About the Role

BEC Arabia is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer with Quantity Surveying expertise to join our team in Makkah. This full-time position requires 5-10 years of experience in a relevant field.

Role Overview

The QS Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for accurately preparing quantity take-offs and developing detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQs) based on Issued for Tender (IFT) drawings and specifications. This role is crucial for supporting pre-award activities, ensuring that quantities are complete, well-structured, and aligned with the project scope for tendering and procurement processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review Issued for Tender (IFT) drawings, specifications, and relevant tender documents.
  • Perform detailed quantity take-offs for electrical systems and components.
  • Prepare comprehensive BOQs in accordance with project scope and established measurement standards.
  • Ensure BOQs are logically structured, measurable, and prepared for tender submission.
  • Identify any missing scope, inconsistencies, or design gaps within the IFT documents.
  • Coordinate with design and technical teams to resolve any identified discrepancies.
  • Develop necessary assumptions and clarifications related to quantity assessments.
  • Support tendering and estimation teams by providing accurate quantity data.
  • Maintain detailed measurement sheets and backup calculations.
  • Update BOQs as required by tender addenda or revised drawings.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of measurement standards relevant to electrical engineering.
  • High proficiency in performing quantity take-offs from 2D drawings and Revit models.
  • Excellent understanding of electrical construction systems and materials.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and BOQ structuring.
  • Proficiency in quantity take-off and coordination tools, including PlanSwift, Navisworks, and AutoCAD.
  • Ability to detect scope gaps and design inconsistencies early in the process.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with large-scale building projects, with experience in KSA or GCC being an advantage.
  • Familiarity with FIDIC contracts and tender documentation.
  • Background working in both consultant and contractor environments.
