About the Senior Registrar ICU Role

National Medical Care is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Registrar ICU to join our medical team in Makkah. This is a full-time position for a medical professional with 5-10 years of experience, focused on delivering high-quality patient care within the Intensive Care Unit.

Role Overview

The Senior Registrar ICU is responsible for providing comprehensive medical care to inpatient patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit. This role ensures a high level of professional performance, delivering superior quality medical treatment, compassion, and understanding to every patient served at NMC Hospitals and Clinics.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect patient care for both in-patients and out-patients within professional competence and clinical privileges, adhering to scientifically valid standards and guidelines.
• Conduct regular ward rounds, independently or as part of a team, to formulate and implement multi-disciplinary treatment plans.
• Ensure accurate, timely, and legible documentation of patient management plans and medical records.
• Prepare and submit discharge summaries, death reports, and special patient reports as required or advised by the Head of the Department.
• Present new admissions during daily morning reports and participate in the department's on-call rota for patient care and admissions.
• Assist senior staff (Consultants) in performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for patients in their field of specialty.
• Supervise Junior Staff, ensuring they fulfill their duties and responsibilities as designated by the department.
• Actively participate in departmental educational and training activities.
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures on patients within the range of their specialty.
• Assess and refer appropriate patients under medical care to other medical facilities, and manage referred patients with medical problems in their field of specialty.
• Respond to emergencies, providing advice and active participation related to the specialty as required.
• Uphold patient security, confidentiality, and privacy at all times.
• Seek the advice of the consultant whenever a patient's condition merits further expertise.
• Adhere strictly to Department Policies and Procedures, as well as hospital by-laws, Rules, and Regulations.
• Execute administrative, organizational, and other assigned tasks as directed by the Consultant In-charge, Head of the Department, or Hospital Administration.

Reporting Structure and Collaboration

The Senior Registrar ICU reports directly to the Head, Department of Internal Medicine and the Consultant In-charge ICU/CCU. This role involves extensive liaison with consultants of their specialty, other specialties within the department, consultants of other departments, nursing staff, other healthcare professionals, patients, and their families.

The Senior Registrar also holds supervisory responsibilities over Registrars, Residents, Nurses, and other assigned paramedical staff.

Professional Standards and Compliance

All duties must be performed in strict accordance with established professional guidelines and regulations, including:

• Evidence-based medicine principles.
• Professional medical ethics and JCIA standards.
• Hospital medical by-laws, rules, and regulations.
• Laws of the Ministry of Health in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and any other applicable regulations.
• Departmental quality plans, policies, and procedures.

Experience Requirements

Candidates for the Senior Registrar ICU position must possess 5-10 years of experience in a relevant medical field, demonstrating competence and expertise in intensive care settings.
