About the Role

Aon in the Middle East is seeking a Senior Risk Engineering Consultant for a full-time position based in Jeddah. This role supports Aon clients in identifying, assessing, and mitigating operational, property, and business risks. The consultant will act as a trusted advisor, working closely with clients, brokers, insurers, and technical specialists to enhance client resilience and support effective risk transfer solutions.

Role Overview and Responsibilities

The Senior Risk Engineering Consultant is responsible for conducting comprehensive risk assessments and site surveys to identify potential hazards and operational vulnerabilities. This includes evaluating fire protection systems, maintenance practices, business continuity measures, and loss prevention controls. The role involves assessing exposures related to property damage, business interruption, machinery breakdown, and operational risks, as well as construction risk engineering surveys and the development of Estimated Maximum Loss (EML) values.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting property risk engineering assessments and site surveys.
  • Evaluating fire protection, maintenance, business continuity, and loss prevention controls.
  • Assessing exposures for property damage, business interruption, and machinery breakdown.
  • Performing construction risk engineering surveys and developing EML values.
  • Reviewing process safety controls and critical equipment risks.
  • Developing risk control engineering reports and preparing risk improvement recommendations.
  • Supporting risk quantification and evaluation of potential loss scenarios.
  • Advising clients on risk mitigation strategies and operational resilience.
  • Assisting clients with insurance, regulatory, and industry compliance.
  • Collaborating with broking teams for insurance placement and renewals.
  • Preparing and presenting risk engineering submissions to insurers.
  • Acting as a trusted risk advisor to key clients.
  • Building relationships with clients, insurers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Promoting Aon's Risk Engineering and Risk Consulting capabilities.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in an engineering discipline such as Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial, Civil, or Construction. A professional engineering certification is preferred. Relevant experience in risk engineering, loss prevention, HSE, property risk, or industrial operations is also advantageous.

The role requires a minimum of eight years of experience at a Risk Consultant level, with a proven ability to lead site surveys independently and engage directly with clients and insurers. Experience in engineering operations, risk management, insurance risk surveying, manufacturing, energy, construction, or industrial sectors is beneficial.

Required Skills and Competencies

Successful candidates will demonstrate strong risk assessment and analytical skills, with proficiency in report writing and technical documentation. Excellent client relationship management, presentation, and communication abilities are essential. The role also requires effective problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.

Key skills include:

  • Knowledge of industrial safety, fire protection, and business continuity principles.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Fluency in both English and Arabic.
  • Familiarity with international standards such as NFPA, FM Global, API, and ISO.

Work Location and Type

This is a full-time position based in the offices located in Jeddah and Makkah, within the Makkah region. Occasional support for other offices in KSA and international surveys may be required.
