Role Overview

The Applications Architect plays a central role in shaping the organization's application landscape to meet current and future business demands. This involves assessing existing frameworks, developing target architectures based on industry best practices, and guiding the strategic evolution of applications. The role requires close collaboration with stakeholders to ensure that all application solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with overarching business objectives. Additionally, the Applications Architect evaluates and recommends IT solutions, supports governance processes, and oversees the integration of new technologies across the enterprise ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze current application architecture to identify improvement opportunities and ensure alignment with business objectives, scalability, performance, and security.
• Design the target application architecture, defining system components, interactions, and technology stacks in line with business needs and industry standards.
• Conduct gap analysis between current and target architectures, developing phased IT transformation roadmaps.
• Lead the development of comprehensive Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for application solutions, ensuring technical and business requirements are captured.
• Evaluate and select IT vendors and solutions based on compatibility, scalability, reputation, and cost-effectiveness.
• Support architecture governance functions, ensuring application designs comply with architectural principles, security standards, and long-term strategy.
• Assess change requests for their impact on existing architecture, advising stakeholders on feasibility and risks.
• Engage with business and IT stakeholders, providing technical guidance for the integration of new technologies.
• Monitor emerging technologies and industry trends to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation.
• Create and maintain clear documentation of application architecture designs, decisions, and guidelines, sharing knowledge with development teams.

Qualifications and Experience

• 0-1 years of professional experience in a relevant field.
• Knowledge of TOGAF and SOA principles.
• Ability to drive the creation and updates of the Target Application Architecture based on business requirements.
• Demonstrated capability in ensuring application architecture alignment with organizational objectives and collaborating with other domain architects.
• Experience in ensuring initiatives and projects conform to Application Architecture direction, best practices, and established standards.
• A track record of establishing and implementing architectural conformance.
• Proactive in monitoring technology advancements and adapting architecture implementation as appropriate.
• Capability to guide project teams in designing, developing, and delivering Enterprise Architecture (EA) compliant initiatives.
• Experience in measuring integration maturity models and proposing initiatives for improvement.
• Familiarity with supporting EA Governance and Change Management Processes.
