Position Summary:
MGIS is an International School, with IB certification, where English is the first language of instruction. Arabic is the official second language and is taught to all students from KG1 to Grade 9. The Arabic Teacher (mother tongue) is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in Arabic, encompassing reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills, in accordance with the IB philosophy. The Special Arabic Teacher (for non-Arabic speaking students) will deliver high-quality instructions adapted to the level of proficiency of the students starting with functional spoken Arabic as early as possible. This role involves fostering an appreciation for Arabic literature and culture, developing students’ proficiency in the language, and supporting their overall academic growth. The Arabic Teacher collaborates with school staff, communicates with parents, and aligns teaching practices with the school’s educational goals and curriculum standards.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lesson Planning and Delivery:
Develop and deliver engaging and age-appropriate lessons that align with the Arabic language curriculum. Use a variety of teaching strategies to cater to different learning styles and proficiency levels. Foster language skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening, ensuring comprehensive language development. Integrate Arabic literature, culture, and traditions into lessons to enhance students’ cultural understanding. - Student Assessment and Progress Monitoring:
Design and administer formative and summative assessments to evaluate students’ language proficiency and progress. Provide constructive feedback to students to help them improve their skills and confidence in Arabic. Maintain accurate records of student performance and use data to inform and adapt teaching practices. Prepare and share progress reports with parents and school leadership. - Classroom Management:
Establish and maintain a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning. Implement effective classroom management strategies to support student engagement and discipline. Encourage active participation and collaboration among students during language activities and discussions. - Resource Development and Integration:
Use and create teaching materials, including textbooks, multimedia resources, and hands-on activities, to enrich the learning experience. Integrate technology and digital tools to enhance Arabic language instruction. Develop supplementary materials to support differentiated learning for students with varying abilities and needs. - Communication and Collaboration:
Communicate effectively with parents regarding students’ progress, achievements, and areas for improvement. Collaborate with colleagues and school leadership to align the Arabic program with the school’s curriculum standards and goals. Participate in team meetings, professional development sessions, and school-wide events. - Cultural Enrichment:
Promote appreciation for Arabic culture through activities such as storytelling, poetry, songs, and cultural projects. Organize and participate in school events that celebrate Arabic language and culture, such as language days or cultural festivals. Encourage students to engage with Arabic language and culture beyond the classroom setting. - Contribution to School Community:
Foster respect, inclusivity, and a love for learning in all students to support the school's mission and values. Participate in extracurricular activities, such as language clubs or competitions, to further students’ interest in Arabic. Serve as a role model by demonstrating professionalism, enthusiasm, and a commitment to student success.
