About the Role

Afaq Q Tech General Trading is seeking an Assistant Category Manager for the Amazon Now team in Riyadh. This full-time role is integral to the MENA Grocery (UFG) team, focusing on building new business initiatives from the ground up. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, capable of quickly adapting to a fast-paced environment, fostering cross-functional relationships, and taking ownership within the program. This involves understanding complex business, technology, and operations processes both within Amazon and with external partners to devise optimal engagement models.

Key Responsibilities

• Support Category leaders in driving new strategic initiatives and business opportunities.
• Negotiate and establish strategic partnerships, finalize end-to-end vendor relationships, terms of trade, and operating model contracts, particularly with long shelf-life fresh produce vendors.
• Develop the annual seasonal portfolio to enhance continuous traffic and customer engagement on the storefront.
• Identify and implement automation opportunities to provide scalable solutions and improve key input metrics such as selection, profitability, pricing, and availability.
• Manage the P&L post-launch, ensuring top and bottom-line targets are met, and lead projects to improve profitability in collaboration with critical stakeholders including vendors, operations, and advertising.
• Define selection assortment and continuously refine the product mix at the dark store level to minimize shrinkage and enhance customer experience.
• Source deals during Tier 1 and Tier 2 events to consistently offer value to Prime Customers.
• Negotiate marketing funds from vendors to secure category visibility during business-as-usual periods and promotional events.
• Prepare, pitch, and close Annual Joint Business Plans (JBP).

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree.
• 2-5 years of professional experience, with at least 1 year in account management, project or program management, or buying.
• Demonstrated experience in online retail.

Essential Skills and Attributes

• Proficiency in Excel and other business analytic tools.
• Experience with software and editing tools, including HTML, Excel, and SQL.
• Familiarity with analytical tools such as Google Analytics, SQL, or HTML.
• Strong analytical talent, high judgment, and excellent business judgment.
• Effective document writing skills and concise communication.
• Proven vendor management and negotiation skills.
• Track record of strong project delivery, commercial negotiations, and relationship management.
• Ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment, managing ambiguity and competing priorities.

Work Environment and Collaboration

This position operates autonomously within a fast-paced, highly demanding, and often ambiguous environment. The role requires collaboration with multiple internal and external stakeholders, including marketing, marketplace, legal, supply chain, and operations teams, to achieve business objectives and influence strategic direction.
