The Project Context

Mace is providing strategic project management consultancy for significant new stadium constructions, multiple stadium redevelopments, and broader precinct transformations in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The project scope includes delivering new stadiums, increasing existing stadium capacity, providing major mixed-use amenities, and implementing robust knowledge transfer to ensure operational excellence and long-term sustainability beyond construction.

Role Overview: Associate Director Architect (Stadiums)

This full-time role, based in Riyadh, supports the delivery and continuous improvement of the architectural design function. The Associate Director Architect ensures compliance with business, statutory, legal, and contractual requirements. The position also supports the leadership, development, and performance of architectural design teams, fostering capability, mobility, and effective resource management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage design resources to ensure business plan outcomes are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Oversee daily operations and serve as the primary contact for all design-related matters.
  • Present Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and management review data to project and leadership teams.
  • Support business development, work-winning activities, and training initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to governance and management systems throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Influence procurement strategies, contractual frameworks, and drive process improvements.
  • Collaborate with the Project Management Office (PMO) and stakeholders to ensure coordinated deliverables and technical excellence.
  • Champion sustainability and net zero carbon goals during project delivery.
  • Lead design delivery aligned with business plan targets and budget.
  • Guide teams to ensure stakeholder needs and governance requirements are met.
  • Present KPIs and support business development initiatives.
  • Drive collaboration, innovation, and carbon reduction through the centre of excellence and reach-back resources.
