About the Role

Amazon is seeking a Category Manager for the Amazon Now SA (MENA Grocery) team. This full-time role is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and focuses on building new business from the ground up. The successful candidate will operate in an entrepreneurial environment, driving strategic initiatives and managing category growth within the grocery sector.

Role Context and Business Impact

This position requires a deep understanding of complex business, technology, and operations processes within Amazon and with external partners to devise optimal engagement models. The Category Manager will influence internal and external stakeholders and leadership to align with strategic direction, including building buying and sourcing strategies for new categories. Key responsibilities also involve ensuring flawless execution, continuously analyzing metrics for business improvements, and managing category profitability, pricing, and selection.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Category leader in driving new strategic initiatives and business opportunities.
  • Build strategic partnerships, align, and close end-to-end vendor relationships, terms of trade, and operating model contracts.
  • Develop the annual seasonal portfolio to drive continuous traffic and engagement to the storefront.
  • Identify automation opportunities to offer scalable solutions and improve key input metrics such as Selection, profitability, Pricing, and Availability.
  • Own the P&L post-launch for hitting top and bottom-line targets and drive projects to improve profitability with critical stakeholders (Vendor, Operations, Advertising).
  • Define selection assortment and continuously refine the mix at the dark store level to reduce shrinkage and improve customer experience.
  • Source deals during Tier 1/2 events to ensure continuous value offerings to Prime Customers.
  • Negotiate marketing funds from vendors for category visibility during Business As Usual (BAU) and Events.
  • Prepare, pitch, and close Annual Joint Business Plans (JBP).

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in retail, operations, product or program management, or business management/consulting, including negotiations and delivering results.
  • 3+ years of experience with Excel.
  • Experience with financial analysis and P&L ownership.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing large data sets and utilizing them to drive performance and process improvements.
  • Knowledge of online retail (e-commerce).

A track record of strong project delivery, commercial negotiations, relationship management, and deep analytical acumen, working with multiple stakeholders including marketing, marketplace, legal, supply chain, and operations, is essential.
