About the Role

IDOM Consulting, Engineering, Architecture is seeking a highly experienced Construction Chief Field Engineer to join its Project and Construction Management team in Riyadh. This full-time role is within the Infrastructure Division and focuses on field supervision and inspection of Transportation and Civil engineering projects, specifically roads, highways, and bridges, within complex urban environments. The selected candidate will serve as the senior on-site authority, ensuring construction compliance with approved designs, specifications, quality standards, and contractual requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all site inspection and field supervision activities, ensuring strict compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.
  • Act as the Chief Field Engineer, supervising and coordinating discipline inspectors to ensure consistent inspection standards across all work fronts.
  • Monitor Contractors' activities on-site to verify that works are executed in accordance with approved method statements, materials, and quality standards.
  • Review and verify inspection requests, material submittals, and work inspections, ensuring timely approvals and proper documentation.
  • Ensure implementation of QA/QC procedures and compliance with project specifications.
  • Enforce compliance with HSE requirements and report any deviations or unsafe practices.
  • Identify non-conformances and initiate Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), ensuring corrective actions are properly implemented and closed.
  • Provide technical guidance to inspectors and Contractors on construction quality, materials, and workmanship.
  • Coordinate closely with the Construction Manager, Project Manager, and Senior Engineers team to resolve site issues and discrepancies.
  • Participate in construction, technical, and coordination meetings with contractors and stakeholders.
  • Monitor progress of works from a site inspection perspective and report any deviations from programme or specifications.
  • Support testing, commissioning, and handover processes, ensuring all works comply with contractual and client requirements.
  • Contribute to daily, weekly, and monthly reports, highlighting inspection results, quality issues, and key risks.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Over 12 years of applicable experience in construction management, with a primary focus on roads, bridges, tunnels, or large-scale infrastructure projects, predominantly in a Consultant capacity. Candidates with exclusive contractor experience will not be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience in one or more road projects. Candidates without clear road project experience will not be considered.

Essential Skills and Attributes

  • Strong understanding of construction, design, and engineering principles.
  • Understanding of local regulations and safety standards.
  • Proficiency in English language.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrated skills in report writing, social interaction, teamwork, problem-solving, autonomy, flexibility, and technical rigor.

Additional Requirements

  • Transferable Iqama for non-Saudi candidates.
  • Must be based in Riyadh.
  • Valid SCE membership.
