About the Director of Housekeeping Role

Capella Hotels and Resorts is seeking a Director of Housekeeping to lead and manage the overall operations of the Housekeeping Department in Riyadh. This full-time position requires a seasoned professional with 5-10 years of experience to ensure the highest standards of service and operational efficiency.

Departmental Leadership and Vision

The Director of Housekeeping will provide inspirational leadership and a clear vision to team members, ensuring the delivery of the Capella brand, values, and service philosophy. This role is responsible for creating an exceptional experience for guests and team members alike, driving continuous improvement in operational standards to achieve long-term financial performance for the department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Housekeeping department's operations, ensuring strict adherence to hotel policies and departmental standards.
  • Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and condition for guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces.
  • Initiate and maintain an effective inspection program for all hotel areas.
  • Cooperate with Engineering to ensure the quality and consistency of the preventive maintenance program.
  • Foster strong working relationships with other departments to ensure effective communication and operational collaboration.
  • Inspire and empower the team to provide engaging service to all guests.
  • Incorporate guest satisfaction into departmental meetings, focusing on continuous improvement.
  • Lead initiatives for guest engagement and high team performance standards.
  • Act as a role model, demonstrating the Capella Culture and Service Philosophy.
  • Participate in the Risk Management Committee, reviewing Fire & Life Safety programs and crisis preparedness.
  • Build and maintain strong guest relationships by periodically checking on their experiences and gathering feedback.
  • Ensure all guest complaints are handled professionally with timely follow-ups.
  • Monitor and review operational budgets, payroll, and inventory costs for efficient expenditure planning without compromising quality.
  • Supervise general inventory taking of departmental operating equipment, supplies, linens, and uniforms.
  • Maintain a good rapport with external laundry contractors to ensure a smooth flow of linen.
  • Coordinate with the Training Manager on Standard Operating Procedure implementation, audits, and training.
  • Communicate the importance of Forbes and LQA standards to the team for optimal audit performance.
  • Stay informed of VIP and special attention guest reservations and ensure preferences are communicated.
  • Foster a positive working environment through regular check-ins with team members.
  • Delegate and empower team members to personalize services and exceed guest expectations.
  • Conduct performance reviews for department managers and provide timely feedback.
  • Participate in recruitment activities, including interviewing and succession planning.
  • Take ownership of individual growth and participate in team members' career progression and succession planning.
  • Maintain a professional image as senior management.
  • Perform all duties with discretion, professionalism, and a pleasant demeanor.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will possess 5-10 years of relevant experience in housekeeping management. A strong understanding of hotel operations, guest service standards, and financial management is essential. The ability to lead and motivate a diverse team is critical for success in this role.

Work Environment and Location

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, within the Riyadh Region. The role involves overseeing the daily operations of the Housekeeping Department within a luxury hotel environment.
