About the Role
Capella Hotels and Resorts is seeking a Director of Marketing and Communications (Marcoms) for its location in Riyadh. This full-time position requires a strategic leader to oversee the marketing communications efforts for the entire hotel, working collaboratively with the Director of Sales and Marketing (DOSM) to establish long-range objectives and execute strategic plans.
Key Responsibilities
The Director of Marcoms will be responsible for developing and implementing the marketing communications strategy. This includes managing editorial calendars, monitoring online conversations, and fostering engaged communities around defined topics. The role involves overseeing the distribution of content across social platforms, maintaining a content library, and optimizing content for various distribution channels. A key aspect is building brand visibility and customer satisfaction through active participation in online conversations and establishing a compelling online presence for the hotel.
- Leading and inspiring team members to uphold the Capella brand values and deliver exceptional guest experiences.
- Managing the daily operations of the department and ensuring compliance with service standards and hotel policies.
- Cultivating relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including E-commerce, Graphic Design, Digital Marketing, Media, and Public Relations.
- Developing and managing content strategies for social media and digital platforms, including content calendars and libraries.
- Analyzing data from listening and GMS tools to inform strategy and reporting.
- Creating and managing reports, profile moderation, and outreach activities.
- Collaborating with corporate departments on e-marketing opportunities and verifying leadership in this area.
- Researching social media opportunities across various market segments.
- Staying informed about client, industry, and market developments.
- Ensuring marketing communications support regional, market, and hotel business objectives.
- Managing website content updates for owned and partner platforms.
- Overseeing PR activities and attending relevant meetings.
- Working with the Sales and Digital Marketing teams to promote event spaces and manage social channels.
- Developing and distributing monthly newsletters.
- Managing relationships with industry press and liaising with the Graphic Designer for marketing materials.
- Ensuring all website content and online presence is up-to-date and aligned with brand standards.
- Empowering team members, delegating responsibilities, and providing regular feedback.
- Monitoring team performance, providing feedback for improvement, and conducting performance appraisals.
- Mentoring team members, guiding their growth, and supporting career progression and succession planning.
- Identifying training needs for team members to enhance performance.
- Managing and controlling departmental expenditures and coordinating with the DOSM on budget forecasts.
Leadership and Team Management
This role requires inspirational leadership, providing a clear vision and direction to the team. The Director of Marcoms is expected to be an exemplary role model, demonstrating the Capella Culture and Service Philosophy. Responsibilities include communicating expectations, recognizing performance, and ensuring consistent business results. The position also involves empowering team members, encouraging ownership, and ensuring accountability. Succession planning and talent development are integral to this leadership function.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates should possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Sales and Marketing or an equivalent qualification. Significant experience in a similar role within luxury hotels or resorts is required, with 5-10 years of experience preferred. Prior experience in Public Relations Management is considered an advantage.
Required Skills and Competencies
The ideal candidate will have an excellent command of written and spoken English and possess competent computing skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office. Strong communication skills and a personable character are essential for this role.
Work Environment
This is a full-time position based in Riyadh. The role involves strategic planning and execution of marketing communications for the hotel, requiring collaboration with various internal and external teams.
