About the Role
Biosceptre International Limited, a global biotechnology company focused on advancing immuno-oncology therapies and diagnostic technologies, is expanding its operations in Saudi Arabia. We are seeking a Financial Accountant to join our team in Riyadh. This role provides significant exposure to international finance, taxation, audit, corporate operations, and regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions, including Saudi Arabia, the UK, and Australia. Reporting to the Group Financial Controller in Sydney, Australia, the Financial Accountant will support the daily accounting and compliance activities for the Group and the Saudi Arabian entity, collaborating with management, external auditors, tax advisors, and service providers.
The ideal candidate is a proactive individual with a strong desire to learn, investigate complex financial issues, and propose practical solutions within a dynamic international setting. This position is designed for an experienced professional who can work with general direction and minimal supervision, undertaking complex operational accounting tasks with a high degree of accuracy, professionalism, and accountability.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate accounting records and general ledger balances.
- Process accounts payable, expense claims, and accounts receivable transactions.
- Review vendor accounts and transactions for accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare payment requests and execute bank transfers in a timely manner.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit card accounts, and payroll data.
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Prepare audit schedules and coordinate information requests from external auditors.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reporting as required.
- Support the preparation of management reports and financial reporting packages.
- Ensure compliance with Saudi Arabian tax and regulatory requirements, including VAT, Withholding Tax, Zakat, and Corporate Income Tax, and other required regulatory filings.
- Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and service providers across different jurisdictions.
- Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and inconsistencies.
- Support the implementation and improvement of financial controls, policies, and procedures.
- Assist with ad hoc finance and business projects.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Current legal right to work and reside in Saudi Arabia.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant accounting or finance experience.
- Proven experience with general ledger, accounts payable, expense claims, accounts receivable, and month-end processes.
- Experience supporting external IFRS audits.
- Demonstrated exposure to Saudi Arabian VAT and statutory compliance requirements.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a remote and international environment.
Skills and Experience
- Knowledge of Accounting and Finance principles.
- Experience in General Ledger management, Accounts Payable and Receivable processing, and Expense Claims management.
- Familiarity with Month-end and Year-end close processes.
- Experience supporting IFRS Audits.
- Understanding of Saudi Arabian VAT and Statutory Compliance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong Written and Verbal Communication skills.
- Capability for Independent Work and Remote Work.
- Problem-Solving and Investigation abilities.
- Understanding of Financial Controls, Policies, and Procedures.
- Experience with Budgeting, Forecasting, and Cash Flow Reporting.
- Familiarity with Management and Financial Reporting.
- Exposure to Taxation, Audit, and Corporate Operations.
- Knowledge of Withholding Tax, Zakat, and Corporate Income Tax.
- Experience with cloud-based accounting and ERP systems (*, Xero, NetSuite, or similar) is advantageous.
- Working proficiency in Arabic is highly regarded for local stakeholder communication.
- Experience working with international teams across multiple jurisdictions.
- Exposure to UK and/or Australian accounting, taxation, and audit requirements.
- Working knowledge of IFRS and experience preparing or supporting IFRS-compliant financial reporting.
Work Environment and Logistics
This is a full-time, fully remote position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The successful candidate must reside in Riyadh and be available to attend the Company's Riyadh office and other locations as required. Due to the international nature of the role and regular interaction with the Group Financial Controller in Sydney, Australia, the working hours will require flexibility. Candidates are expected to commence work at approximately 7:00 am Riyadh time from Monday to Thursday, with Sunday working hours generally following local business hours, subject to operational requirements.
This role offers the opportunity to work directly with senior management and international stakeholders, gain exposure to finance, taxation, audit, and compliance activities across MENA, Australia, and the United Kingdom, and grow with an expanding international biotechnology company.
