About the Role

King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre in Riyadh is seeking a full-time Genomics Laboratory Specialist I. This role is designed for professionals with 2-5 years of experience in genomics research, focusing on mastering various laboratory techniques and contributing to ongoing scientific projects.

Role Overview

The Genomics Laboratory Specialist I performs experiments independently, encompassing the collection, preparation, and analysis of specimens, or the conduct of animal studies. This position involves calculating and evaluating results, maintaining efficient laboratory operations, and staying current with relevant scientific publications. The specialist also provides supervision and guidance to students and junior technical staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Run a wide variety of scientific experiments and research projects.
• Evaluate and interpret data, providing results to support publication.
• Assist in preparing and writing research reports, manuscripts, and papers for presentation and publication.
• Search literature for new methodology and design experiments accordingly.
• Manage general laboratory organization, maintenance, and supply ordering, adhering to all laboratory safety rules and regulations.
• Develop and implement research quality control procedures.
• Provide assistance to other laboratory team members as directed by the Supervisor.
• Follow all Organization's related Policies and Procedures.
• Participate in self and others' education, training, and development.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess 2-5 years of relevant experience. The role requires demonstrated technical, communication, and computer skills, which will be assessed by the immediate supervisor. Evidence of co-authorship in publications is also expected.

Required Skills and Certifications

• Demonstrated mentoring ability and supervisory skills for trainees and junior technical staff.
• Proof of working knowledge in safety measures, such as biological, radiological, and/or chemical safety. This can be provided through relevant certificates or a letter from an immediate supervisor confirming the candidate's working knowledge in the field.

This full-time position is based in Riyadh at King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre. The specialist will operate within a research-focused laboratory environment, contributing to scientific advancements and fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
