About the Role
MUFG, a globally respected financial institution, is seeking a Head of Compliance for its Riyadh Branch in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This full-time position offers the opportunity to lead and manage the compliance framework within one of the world's leading banks, ensuring adherence to SAMA regulations and international best practices. The role requires 5-10 years of experience and is based in Riyadh.
Role Overview and Responsibilities
As the Head of Compliance and Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO), this role is instrumental in protecting MUFG's reputation and supporting business growth. The position involves working closely with senior management and leading a dedicated team, contributing to global compliance initiatives. Key responsibilities include:
- Overseeing the identification, assessment, and management of compliance risks in accordance with SAMA regulations and internal policies.
- Developing, implementing, and updating comprehensive compliance programs to address legal and regulatory changes.
- Serving as the primary contact for regulatory authorities, including SAMA, managing examinations and responses.
- Leading anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorist financing (CTF) efforts, including transaction monitoring and suspicious activity reporting.
- Drafting new policies and procedures and reviewing existing documentation for regulatory alignment.
- Educating staff at all levels on compliance matters through tailored training programs.
- Preparing detailed reports for senior management and committees on compliance status and risk assessments.
- Collaborating with global compliance divisions on cross-border projects and local implementation of global initiatives.
- Supporting the recruitment, training, performance management, and professional development of direct reports.
- Representing MUFG at external events and building networks with peer institutions.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates for this role should possess:
- A minimum of five years of experience working within banking compliance functions in KSA.
- A deep understanding of SAMA regulatory frameworks and practical expertise in implementing local banking laws and international standards.
- Demonstrated ability in managing AML controls, including transaction monitoring, suspicious activity investigation, and reporting obligations.
- Experience in drafting comprehensive policies and reviewing contracts or marketing materials for regulatory conformity.
- Proven capability in leading teams, setting objectives, and fostering continuous improvement.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in both Arabic and English.
- Strong organizational abilities and strategic planning skills.
- A calm approach under pressure with excellent attention to detail.
