About the Role

Parsons Corporation is seeking an experienced Land Surveyor to join its site-based construction supervision team. This full-time position is located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and will contribute to a major public realm development. The role requires a professional with 5-10 years of experience in land surveying, specifically within large-scale infrastructure or urban development projects.

Project Context

The project involves the development of iconic parks, open spaces, and over 55 kilometers of streetscape. The objective is to create a vibrant and inclusive environment that enhances livability, accessibility, and community well-being. The Land Surveyor will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all survey-related activities throughout the construction phase.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the lead surveyor, reporting to the Resident Engineer/Construction Director, overseeing all site surveying and setting-out verification.
  • Supervise and coordinate the survey team and review contractor's survey work for accuracy and compliance.
  • Verify control points, benchmarks, and reference coordinates against approved project datum and grid systems.
  • Confirm contractor's setting-out for alignments, levels, coordinates, and dimensions for various project elements including roads, utilities, structures, and landscape features.
  • Conduct independent spot checks and surveys to ensure constructed works adhere to approved drawings and tolerances.
  • Review and comment on contractor's survey reports, layout drawings, and as-built surveys.
  • Identify and report discrepancies between design drawings and site conditions, assisting in resolving setting-out issues.
  • Coordinate survey activities with discipline engineers to support interface management and clash avoidance.
  • Maintain and ensure proper use, calibration, and safekeeping of survey equipment.
  • Manage and maintain organized digital and hard-copy records of survey data and as-built information.
  • Support the verification of earthwork quantities and volumetric calculations.
  • Participate in progress and coordination meetings, providing survey-related input.
  • Ensure all survey activities comply with HSE requirements and quality procedures.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of as-built drawings and final survey records for handover.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Surveying Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • 5-10 years of experience in land/engineering surveying on large-scale infrastructure, public realm, or urban development projects.
  • Several years of experience in a senior or lead surveyor role.
  • Proven experience in a site-based construction supervision environment.
  • Experience in KSA or the GCC region is preferred.

Required Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong proficiency in modern survey instruments and software, including total stations, GPS/GNSS, and digital levels.
  • Proficiency in survey data processing tools.
  • Solid understanding of surveying principles, coordinate systems, leveling, and construction setting-out for civil, structural, and landscape works.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering, architectural, and utility drawings.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and record-keeping abilities.
  • Good communication and coordination skills for effective collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams and contractors.
