About UNIMAC and the Role

UNIMAC - United Maintenance and Contracting Company is seeking a Logistics and Transport Manager to join our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role is central to leading our supply chain and transportation operations for major infrastructure projects, ensuring the efficient flow of materials and equipment. The position requires a professional with significant experience in logistics management within a demanding project environment.

Strategic Logistics and Planning

The Logistics and Transport Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic approaches to logistics and transportation. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing logistics strategies that align with project schedules and organizational objectives.
  • Preparing and managing transportation and logistics budgets while identifying opportunities for cost optimization.
  • Monitoring transportation performance through key performance indicators (KPIs), including on-time delivery, fleet utilization, and logistics costs.
  • Collaborating with procurement, project management, engineering, and site teams to ensure uninterrupted material availability.
  • Leading demand forecasting and logistics planning to support multiple concurrent projects.
  • Identifying logistics risks and developing contingency plans to minimize disruptions to project execution.

Operational Management and Execution

This role oversees the day-to-day operational aspects of logistics and transport, ensuring efficiency and compliance across all activities:

  • Managing fleet operations, including vehicle allocation, maintenance scheduling, fuel consumption, and driver performance (where applicable).
  • Conducting regular vendor performance evaluations and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinating customs clearance activities and documentation for imported construction materials, machinery, and equipment.
  • Overseeing warehouse layout optimization, inventory accuracy, stock reconciliation, and cycle counting processes.
  • Implementing and maintaining Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Transport Management Systems (TMS), and ERP logistics modules.
  • Analyzing logistics data and preparing periodic reports on operational performance, costs, inventory levels, and transportation efficiency.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives using Lean or other process improvement methodologies.
  • Ensuring effective planning and execution of last-mile deliveries to project sites, including remote and challenging locations.
  • Managing emergency logistics requirements and expediting critical shipments to prevent project delays.

Team Leadership and Compliance

The manager will lead and develop the logistics team while ensuring adherence to safety and operational standards:

  • Leading, mentoring, and developing logistics, warehouse, and transportation teams, ensuring high levels of performance and compliance.
  • Conducting regular audits of warehouses, transport operations, and logistics documentation to ensure operational excellence.
  • Coordinating with HSE teams to ensure safe loading, unloading, lifting, transportation, and storage of materials and equipment.
  • Supporting project mobilization and demobilization activities by coordinating the movement of personnel, equipment, and temporary facilities.

Required Experience

Candidates for this position must possess:

  • A minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in logistics and transport management, preferably within the context of major infrastructure or construction projects.
