About the Role
Amazon Saudi Arabia (ex-Souq) is seeking a Procurement Specialist to join its EMEA Site Procurement Operations (SPO) Team within the Global Procurement Organization (GPO). This full-time position is based in Riyadh. The role involves supporting Amazon Stores Operations by leading and delivering strategic procurement projects for internal business partners at local, national, regional, and global levels. As a business partner for Amazon sites, the Procurement Specialist works in a cross-functional environment to procure value-adding solutions, drive continuous improvement, innovation, and sustainability, and mitigate legal and supply risks.
Core Responsibilities
The Procurement Specialist is responsible for delivering Key SPO Performance Indicators, including savings, compliance, sustainability, and Invoice on Hold targets. This involves managing the procurement process from needs detection to execution, fostering internal partnerships, utilizing various systems, and overseeing supplier relationships. The role requires a proactive approach to procurement strategy and project delivery within a dynamic global environment.
Sourcing and Project Management
- Manage the SPO process and policy, from identifying needs to executing sourcing requirements across local, regional, country, and cross-continent levels.
- Anticipate business needs to develop optimal Procurement strategies.
- Lead sourcing activities, supplier due diligence, negotiations, and risk assessments using Coupa (ERP) and other tools.
- Conduct market research and evaluate supplier manufacturing capabilities to enhance the GPO supplier base for current and future requirements.
- Deliver projects (RFI, RFQ) with varying spend thresholds, complexity, risks, confidentiality, and time constraints, providing solution analysis and recommendations to the business.
- Execute and support GPO projects and initiatives, including tenders, cost optimizations, sustainability efforts, and process improvements.
- Support critical yearly peak readiness, including documenting lessons learned, creating pre-peak readiness presentations, and executing playbook actions.
Stakeholder Engagement and Systems Utilization
- Act as the primary Procurement representative for operations on site, building effective business partnerships.
- Partner proactively with Site Leadership, other GPO teams (*, Category, Global Supplier Management), and key functions such as Finance or Legal.
- Lead Monthly Business Reviews (MBR) and Quarterly Business Reviews (QBR) with internal and external stakeholders (GM, Change, RME, Vendors), contributing expertise to key supplier meetings and internal processes like GEMBAs and Daily Deep Dives.
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for local procurement categories and processes, identifying savings opportunities, performing spend analysis, and supporting strategy definition for the country network.
- Act as an ambassador for internal Spending & Transaction and GPO policies, educating business partners on correct behaviors and best practices.
- Utilize various applications and systems (ERP, Quicksight, PowerBI) to provide reliable reporting and data, including supplier performance metrics.
- Enhance available tools to analyze and leverage opportunities and risks related to spends, categories, vendors, and legal aspects.
Supplier Relationship Management
- Deliver contracts from inception to completion, mastering Contract Life Management (CLM), and drive contract compliance from suppliers.
- Create, negotiate, and execute contractual agreements, including Work Orders and thorough Supply Agreements.
- Manage supplier performance according to relevant governance frameworks.
- Ensure high levels of service based on quality, maintenance, costs, sustainability, and lead times.
- Lead and support MBR/QBRs as required, representing suppliers' interests, ensuring smooth payment processes, providing necessary support, and implementing corrective and preventive measures.
Required Qualifications
- Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
- Experience in procurement.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities.
- Experience in supply chain, commodity, and supplier management within a high-volume, global sourcing and operations manufacturing environment with a global supply base of contract manufacturers.
- Knowledge of ERP systems (*, SAP, ORACLE, Coupa) in large organizations.
