About the Role

Yellow Door Energy is seeking a Project Engineer – Saudi National to support the delivery of commercial and industrial solar PV projects across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is designated for a Saudi National candidate to align with nationalization requirements. The role involves close collaboration with Project Managers to oversee site execution, coordinate with EPC contractors, manage technical documentation, conduct quality inspections, support commissioning, and facilitate project handover.

Key Responsibilities

The Project Engineer will contribute to the safe, timely, and high-quality delivery of solar PV projects. Key duties include:

  • Supporting project planning, mobilization, and site readiness activities.
  • Reviewing project drawings, technical documents, method statements, material submittals, and inspection requirements.
  • Coordinating daily site activities with EPC contractors and subcontractors.
  • Monitoring site progress, tracking issues, and escalating risks, delays, or quality concerns.
  • Maintaining project trackers for RFIs, technical queries, drawing revisions, submittals, action logs, and punch lists.
  • Supporting HSE compliance, site inspections, toolbox talks, permit-to-work processes, and corrective action follow-up.
  • Conducting quality checks on mounting structures, DC and AC works, inverter installation, switchgear, and grid connection interfaces.
  • Assisting with commissioning, close-out documentation, as-built records, O&M manuals, warranties, and handover activities.

Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, candidates must possess:

  • Saudi Nationality.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred; Mechanical, Civil, or Renewable Energy Engineering degrees will also be considered.
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in project engineering, site engineering, or construction coordination for EPC or infrastructure projects.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience specifically in solar PV or renewable energy projects.
  • Hands-on experience supporting solar PV project execution, including site coordination, installation monitoring, quality inspections, commissioning support, and contractor follow-up.
  • A practical understanding of PV system components, DC and AC works, mounting structures, inverters, grid interconnection, testing, and commissioning requirements.
  • Experience reviewing drawings, layouts, shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, ITPs, and as-built documentation.
  • Practical experience with PVsyst, AutoCAD, MS Project or Primavera P6, and MS Office 365.
  • Willingness to travel regularly to project sites across KSA.

Advantageous Skills and Experience

Candidates with the following would have a strong advantage:

  • Commercial & Industrial (C&I) grid-tied solar PV experience, particularly in the 1 MW – 10 MW range.
  • Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) or hybrid energy project experience.
  • Familiarity with SEC standards, municipality permitting, and KSA site execution requirements.
  • Project management training such as PMP, IPMA, PRINCE2, or equivalent.
  • Arabic language skills or significant experience working in Arabic-speaking site environments.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • A thorough understanding of solar PV construction beyond high-level coordination.
  • The ability to interpret drawings, technical documents, submittals, and site reports.
  • Meticulous attention to detail in tracking RFIs, submittals, punch lists, quality observations, and commissioning records.
  • Proactive identification and clear escalation of issues.
  • A strong commitment to HSE, quality, accountability, and delivery standards.
  • Effective communication skills with contractors, internal teams, and site stakeholders.
