About the Role

Mace is seeking a Recovery Director to join a significant program in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This role is integral to a major mixed-use development encompassing sports facilities, entertainment, arts, and associated infrastructure. Mace combines construction expertise with consultancy services to drive project success.

Role Overview

The Recovery Director will lead and manage the recovery of distressed or underperforming projects. This involves proactive monitoring, management, and coordination of the Main Contractor, subcontractors, consultants, and stakeholders. The primary focus is to restore confidence in project delivery by implementing robust planning, progress monitoring, resource management, coordination, reporting, and recovery initiatives to meet contractual milestones, sectional completion dates, operational readiness, and overall project completion objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and assess the contractor’s baseline program, recovery program, critical path, sequencing, and milestone strategy.
  • Monitor progress against approved schedules, contractual milestones, and recovery targets, identifying delays, productivity issues, logic deficiencies, coordination failures, and resource constraints.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor project recovery and mitigation strategies, validating contractor-submitted program updates and recovery initiatives.
  • Monitor contractor and subcontractor performance across all disciplines, identifying underperforming entities and recommending corrective actions.
  • Ensure effective management of subcontractor interfaces, work sequencing, and trade coordination.
  • Chair and lead recovery, coordination, and performance meetings.
  • Monitor workface availability, access constraints, design impacts, procurement delays, testing and commissioning readiness, and authority approvals.
  • Coordinate with consultants, designers, contractors, operators, and authorities to resolve delivery obstacles.
  • Support the assessment of recovery-related costs, acceleration measures, and mitigation proposals.
  • Provide input for contractual notifications related to delays, non-performance, or recovery obligations.
  • Monitor impacts on sectional completion, taking over milestones, operational readiness, and stakeholder interfaces.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree qualified in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 15+ years of experience in large-scale construction and project delivery.
  • Strong understanding of Primavera P6, critical path analysis, recovery planning, construction sequencing, testing and commissioning, operational readiness, and contract administration.
  • Demonstrated experience managing contractors and subcontractors on large multidisciplinary projects.
  • Experience within hospitality, entertainment, infrastructure, or giga-project environments is preferred.
  • Experience within delivery partner / PMC environments is preferred.
  • Must meet the necessary visa criteria for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and possess relevant work experience on high-valued projects/programmes for a project management consultancy business, required for immigration and client approval.
