About the Role
The Green Recruitment Company is seeking a Senior Testing & Commissioning Manager, a Wind Turbine Specialist, to lead commissioning activities for utility-scale wind projects. This full-time position is based in Riyadh and requires over 10 years of experience. The role focuses on ensuring the safe and reliable commissioning of mechanical, electrical, control, and grid-interface systems for Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs), facilitating their successful handover.
Key Responsibilities
The Senior Testing & Commissioning Manager will be responsible for a range of critical tasks to ensure project success. This includes:
- Reviewing WTG engineering designs, control philosophies, and grid compliance requirements.
- Coordinating Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) reviews and commissioning planning with EPC, Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), and utility teams.
- Leading mechanical and electrical commissioning activities.
- Supervising Low Voltage (LV) and Medium Voltage (MV) energization and the initial grid synchronization.
- Validating WTG controller parameters and ensuring grid-code compliance.
- Conducting Low Voltage Ride-Through (LVRT), High Voltage Ride-Through (HVRT), frequency ride-through, and reactive capability testing.
- Reviewing Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) data, alarms, and event logs.
- Troubleshooting issues such as grid trips, pitch and yaw faults, converter failures, and communication problems.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates for this role should possess a strong background in wind turbine commissioning and related engineering disciplines. Specific requirements include:
- A minimum of 12 years of experience in WTG commissioning.
- A comprehensive understanding of turbine electrical, mechanical, and control systems.
- Demonstrated experience with IEC 61400 standards and grid-code compliance.
- A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
- OEM commissioning authorization is strongly preferred.
- Certified Engineer status is preferred.
Required Skills
Successful candidates will exhibit strong technical acumen and leadership capabilities essential for managing complex commissioning processes.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills.
- Proficiency in site leadership.
