About the Role

Skilled Careers is seeking a Senior Design Manager to join a leading international main contractor. This role is central to the overall delivery of a major 40MW Data Centre project located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of managing large-scale data centre projects from conception through to final handover within a main contracting environment. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to a significant project and be part of a company with a strong pipeline of future work, playing a crucial role in ensuring project success through leadership of multidisciplinary teams and upholding high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the comprehensive delivery of a 40MW data centre project, overseeing all phases from mobilization through to commissioning and final handover.
  • Effectively manage project teams, subcontractors, consultants, and suppliers to ensure the achievement of all project objectives.
  • Guarantee that the project is executed safely, adheres to the established programme, remains within budget, and meets the highest quality standards.
  • Develop and implement robust project execution strategies and detailed delivery plans.
  • Continuously monitor construction progress, identify potential risks, and implement mitigation strategies to maintain critical programme milestones.
  • Coordinate closely with client representatives and all key stakeholders throughout the entire project lifecycle.
  • Drive commercial performance and ensure strict adherence to all contractual obligations.
  • Oversee all testing, commissioning, and final handover activities to ensure a seamless project completion.
  • Provide strong leadership, mentorship, and performance management to the project delivery team.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related discipline.
  • Proven experience in delivering hyperscale or large-scale data centre projects.
  • Must have successfully delivered at least one complete data centre project from inception to handover.
  • A strong background working for recognized main contractors is essential.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multidisciplinary construction teams on complex projects.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and client-facing skills are required.
  • A thorough understanding of project controls, programme management, cost management, quality assurance, and HSE requirements.
