About the Role

The Environment Fund is seeking a Specialist General Accounting to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This is a full-time position suitable for candidates with 0-1 years of experience in accounting. The role focuses on executing general accounting activities with accuracy and efficiency, ensuring all financial transactions are properly recorded and processed in accordance with applicable accounting standards and approved policies.

Role Purpose and Contribution

The primary purpose of this role is to maintain the integrity of the Fund's financial records. The Specialist will contribute to the preparation of periodic financial reports that are essential for informed decision-making and for ensuring strict compliance with all regulatory requirements. This position is crucial in upholding financial accountability and governance within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute monthly and quarterly closing activities related to payroll expenses and other accruals, coordinating with relevant business units to ensure accurate journal entries and timely reflection in the general ledger.
  • Support the daily management of general and subsidiary ledgers by recording, validating, and reconciling financial transactions to ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial records.
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, ensuring all disclosures are accurate, complete, and compliant with IPSAS, IFRS, and the Environment Fund’s internal standards.
  • Provide accurate, well-documented, and timely financial data to support leadership in planning, budgeting, performance monitoring, and decision-making.
  • Analyze unusual variances and deviations in accounting activities and provide clear recommendations to resolve issues and improve accuracy.
  • Identify risks, operational gaps, or control weaknesses within general accounting activities and escalate them with corrective recommendations.
  • Contribute to enhancing the Environment Fund’s accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to strengthen governance and financial accountability.
  • Collaborate with finance colleagues, auditors, and cross-functional teams to ensure smooth financial information flow and alignment on accounting outputs.
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to explain financial results, adjustments, and observations clearly and professionally.
  • Assist internal and external auditors by preparing required documentation accurately, completely, and in an organized manner.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 0-1 years of relevant experience in general accounting.
  • Demonstrated understanding of applicable accounting standards, including IPSAS and IFRS.
  • Proficiency in financial record-keeping, transaction processing, and report preparation.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, requiring dedicated engagement within the Environment Fund's finance department.
