About the Role

Arla Foods is seeking a Traditional Trade Supervisor to join our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is central to managing and developing sales activities within the traditional trade channel, which encompasses grocery stores, convenience stores, and independent retailers. The role focuses on achieving sales targets, maximizing product availability and visibility, leading a team of sales representatives, and fostering strong customer relationships.

Sales Management and Growth

The supervisor will be responsible for driving sales performance and market expansion within the traditional trade channel:

  • Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
  • Monitor sales performance and implement corrective actions when needed.
  • Drive volume growth, distribution expansion, and market share objectives.
  • Ensure effective execution of sales strategies and promotional activities.

Team Leadership and Development

This role involves leading and developing a sales team to ensure high performance and continuous improvement:

  • Supervise, coach, and motivate sales representatives and merchandisers (if applicable).
  • Conduct regular field visits to monitor team performance, with 70% of time spent in the market.
  • Set individual performance objectives and conduct performance reviews.
  • Identify training needs and provide on-the-job coaching.

Customer Relationship and Territory Management

Key responsibilities include fostering strong customer relationships and optimizing territory coverage:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key retailers.
  • Negotiate trade agreements, promotions, and visibility opportunities.
  • Resolve customer issues and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Identify new business opportunities within assigned territories.
  • Ensure efficient route planning and territory coverage.
  • Monitor outlet productivity and customer call frequency.
  • Maintain accurate customer databases and route plans.

Merchandising, Execution, and Reporting

The role also encompasses ensuring effective in-store execution and providing analytical insights:

  • Ensure products are available and visible according to company standards.
  • Monitor compliance with planograms and merchandising guidelines.
  • Ensure proper execution of trade promotions and in-store activations.
  • Track competitor activities, pricing, and promotional campaigns.
  • Prepare sales reports and market performance analysis.
  • Monitor KPIs including sales volume, distribution, strike rate, productivity, and collection performance.
  • Provide market intelligence and recommendations to management.
  • Forecast sales and support demand planning activities.

Required Experience

Candidates for this position should possess the following experience:

  • 5-10 years of relevant experience in sales management within the traditional trade channel.
