Job Description

About the Role

Turing is seeking a QA Specialist for Audio Annotation & Diarization to contribute to a project focused on building a highly accurate, evaluation-grade dataset of transcribed, multi-channel audio recordings. This role is a contract position based in Saudi Arabia.

Project Overview

The project involves evaluating high-quality, realistic conversations to assess multilingual, multi-speaker AI systems. Contributors will record unscripted group conversations, which will undergo initial transcription and diarization. As a QA Specialist, your primary responsibility is to perform the final review of both the audio recordings and the human-verified annotations to ensure end-to-end quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Audio Quality Assurance: Evaluate multi-channel audio recordings against strict technical and fidelity requirements, verifying channel isolation and ensuring recordings are free from disruptive background noise, clipping, or low gain.
  • Transcription & Diarization Verification: Review human-validated transcriptions for exceptional accuracy and adherence to low error rate targets. Confirm that transcripts correctly capture spontaneous speech, including overlaps, interruptions, and false starts, while validating the precision of turn-level and word-level timestamps and speaker identification.
  • Metadata & Content Review: Verify the accuracy of all applied metadata, including demographic markers, contextual domains, and conversational tags. Audit sessions to enforce strict safety and privacy standards, ensuring no Personally Identifying Information (PII), toxic, or sensitive content is present.
  • Execution & Reporting: Assess the end-to-end quality of the annotation task, assigning clear pass/fail or agree/disagree statuses. Provide detailed, actionable comments and feedback when disagreeing with an annotator's work.

Required Qualifications

  • Exceptional ear for audio fidelity and the ability to detect subtle audio issues.
  • Meticulous attention to detail for verifying word-level timestamps and strict verbatim transcription rules.
  • Native proficiency in Arabic.
  • Ability to accurately assess complex multi-speaker dynamics.

Ideal Backgrounds

  • Linguists or Phonetics Experts with a deep understanding of natural speech patterns and conversational dynamics.
  • Language Teachers with native-level mastery and the ability to strictly adhere to verbatim transcription guidelines.
  • Professional Transcriptionists with a strong ear for audio fidelity, rigorous timestamping skills, and experience meeting strict accuracy targets.

Contract Details

This is a contract assignment for a duration of 4 weeks. The engagement type is contractor assignment/freelancer, which does not include medical benefits or paid leave.
