About the Role

Kempinski Hotels is seeking a Restaurant Captain to join our team in Al Khobar, Eastern, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is suitable for candidates with 0-1 years of experience in a similar role. The Restaurant Captain is responsible for delivering courteous, professional, and efficient food and beverage service to guests, ensuring maximum guest satisfaction and supporting sales in the assigned outlet, consistent with Kempinski’s DNA values and hotel standards.

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide professional and efficient food and beverage service to guests in the assigned outlet.
  • Lead the service and act as a role model to the team, including Waiters, Waitresses, and Hosts/Hostesses.
  • Ensure flawless service delivery to the highest standards required by the department and the hotel.
  • Control the service with a strong sense of supervision, maintaining oversight across all areas.
  • Fully understand the restaurant's concept and act as a guardian of its service, food, and beverage standards, and team guidance.

Operational Duties and Standards

  • Report to duty punctually, wearing the correct uniform, which is clean and well-pressed, including appropriate polished shoes and nametag, in line with hotel dress code and Kempinski grooming standards.
  • Maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene at all times.
  • Perform all duties and tasks as required within the assigned outlet.
  • Successfully execute opening and closing procedures established for the assigned outlet.
  • Monitor operating supplies and equipment, actively working to reduce spoilage and wastage.
  • Ensure the place of work and surrounding area are kept clean and organized at all times.
  • Operate the existing POS system based on the trained responsibility level assigned within the department.
  • Strictly adhere to the rules and regulations established in the hotel’s policy manual and policies on fire, hygiene, health, and safety.

Guest Experience and Product Knowledge

  • Handle guest enquiries in a courteous and efficient manner.
  • Report guest complaints and feedback immediately to supervisors, ensuring follow-up is performed with the guest.
  • Be knowledgeable of all services and products offered by the hotel.
  • Possess thorough knowledge and understanding of all food and beverage items offered by the assigned department.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge and understanding to explain and perform upselling of all items offered, as well as offering alternatives.

Team Collaboration and Reporting

  • Maintain a good rapport and working relationship with staff in the assigned department and within the hotel.
  • Ensure effective communication within the team and be able to hold team meetings in the absence of the Restaurant Supervisor.
  • Attend the daily Food & Beverage Meeting in the absence of the Restaurant Supervisor and Assistant Restaurant Manager.
  • Attend and contribute to all staff meetings, departmental trainings, and hotel-initiated trainings scheduled.
  • Undertake reasonable tasks and secondary duties as assigned by the Department Head.
  • Assist in carrying out scheduled inventories of products and operating equipment.
  • Project a positive and motivated attitude and exercise self-control at all times.
  • Report to the Restaurant Supervisor, Assistant Restaurant Manager, or Restaurant Manager.

Experience and Qualifications

  • A minimum of 0-1 years of experience in a restaurant service role.
  • Demonstrated ability to adhere to high standards of personal appearance and hygiene.
  • Understanding of the monthly profit and loss statement of the department.
  • Proficiency in operating existing POS systems.
  • Commitment to following hotel policies and operational standards.
