About the Sales Support Specialist Role

ABB is seeking a Sales Support Specialist to join its team in Al Khobar, Eastern Province. This full-time position supports the sales organization and customers throughout the proposal process, acting as a key technical resource. The role involves preparing technical descriptions, determining costs, and finalizing documentation for automation solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the local sales organization and customers in identifying technically appropriate and cost-effective solutions for proposals.
  • Provide technical support during meetings, product presentations, and negotiations, and conduct product/solution/service training.
  • Ensure the accurate preparation of technical and commercial aspects of offers, including pricing and trading conditions.
  • Prepare technical and commercial offers based on customer specifications, internal directives, and feeder factory input.
  • Participate in project kick-off meetings.
  • Define and communicate costs for proposed solutions to the sales organization.
  • Understand and provide information for the risk review process, potentially participating in risk assessments.
  • Analyze customer needs and competitor offers using market and sales-provided information.
  • Conduct lost proposal analysis, identify causes, and recommend actions to improve future results in cooperation with Sales and Local Business Units.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electrical, or Communication Engineering is preferred.
  • A minimum of 8 years of engineering experience in industrial automation.
  • Experience with proposal and cost estimation is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and MS-Project.
  • Good knowledge of Automation solutions (DCS, SCADA, PLCs); prior experience with ABB Control systems is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Industrial Networking, Communication protocols, and standards.
  • Prior experience with ABB Automation products is an advantage.
  • Ability to provide technical solutions using ABB control system products that meet customer requirements.
  • Capability to develop cost element sheets, project scopes, and analyze risks.
  • Good understanding of contractual terms and conditions.
  • Very good English writing skills and the ability to present technical solutions through proposals.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Understanding of basic accounting practices and cost development.
  • Familiarity with the Saudi Arabia market, key customer standards, and bidding processes.
  • Experience with key Saudi Arabian customers such as Aramco, SABIC, SWCC, and SEC is required.
  • Fluent in English; Arabic language skills are a plus.
