About the Role

Sealy Mattress Middle East, operated by Middle East Mattress Factory Co., is seeking a Chief Accountant to join its team in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role requires 5-10 years of experience and involves overseeing financial operations, reporting, and the compliance framework across retail and manufacturing operations in the MENA region. The Chief Accountant will lead day-to-day accounting functions, ensure accurate financial reporting, and maintain strong internal controls, taking ownership of the general ledger, tax compliance, and financial closing cycles.

This position bridges operational accounting with strategic financial oversight, ensuring fiscal efficiency and full compliance with both Saudi regulatory standards and international financial policies.

Core Responsibilities

The Chief Accountant will be responsible for leading and managing the comprehensive accounting functions of Sealy Mattress Middle East. This includes ensuring the integrity of financial data, adherence to regulatory standards, and efficient management of financial resources. Key areas of focus include:

  • Managing end-to-end monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes.
  • Overseeing general ledger accounts, bank reconciliations, and asset registries.
  • Ensuring compliance with tax regulations, Zakat, and corporate governance standards.
  • Monitoring cash flow and optimizing working capital.
  • Implementing internal controls and collaborating on cost analysis.

Financial Reporting and Compliance

  • Manage the end-to-end monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes to ensure timely and accurate financial statements.
  • Oversee all general ledger accounts, bank reconciliations, fixed asset registries, and inventory valuation metrics.
  • Prepare comprehensive financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow) in compliance with IFRS guidelines.
  • Lead the preparation, review, and accurate filing of VAT, Zakat, and corporate tax returns through the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) portal.
  • Ensure full adherence to local Saudi financial regulations, commercial laws, and internal corporate governance standards.
  • Coordinate and manage relationship workflows with external auditors during year-end financial audits.

Treasury and Cost Management

  • Monitor daily cash positions and manage corporate accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) to optimize working capital.
  • Review payroll processing, ensuring flawless execution alongside local compliance via the Saudi Madad portal.
  • Evaluate and authorize vendor payments, expense reports, and petty cash allocations.
  • Collaborate closely with factory operations to analyze manufacturing costs, raw material variances, and inventory margins.
  • Implement robust internal control mechanisms to safeguard company assets and eliminate financial discrepancies.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

  • A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in an accounting leadership role.
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee financial operations, reporting, and compliance.
  • Strong analytical and detail-oriented approach to financial management.
  • Proficiency in IFRS guidelines and Saudi financial regulations (VAT, Zakat, corporate tax).
  • Experience with ZATCA and Saudi Madad portals is required.
  • Ability to bridge operational accounting with strategic financial oversight.
