About the Cook III Role
Sheraton in Jeddah is seeking a Cook III to join their culinary team. This full-time position is suitable for individuals with 0-1 years of experience in a kitchen environment. The Cook III will be responsible for preparing a variety of food items and maintaining a clean and organized work station.
Core Responsibilities
The Cook III will prepare ingredients for cooking, which includes portioning, chopping, and storing food items. This involves washing and peeling fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as accurately weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients according to established recipes and quality standards. The role also encompasses preparing cold food items and ensuring all food is cooked to the correct temperature and presentation standards.
Kitchen Operations and Equipment
In this role, you will operate various kitchen equipment, including ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers. A key duty is to test foods to ensure they are cooked sufficiently and to monitor food quality throughout the preparation process. You will also be responsible for setting up and breaking down your work station, serving food in proper portions, and ensuring the cleanliness and disinfection of the kitchen area, tables, tools, knives, and equipment. Maintaining the correct temperature of appliances and food is also a critical aspect of this position.
Professional Conduct and Teamwork
Adherence to all company policies and safety procedures is mandatory, including reporting any maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, or unsafe work conditions. Maintaining a clean and professional appearance, protecting company assets, and speaking clearly and professionally are essential. The role requires developing and maintaining positive working relationships with colleagues, supporting team goals, and responding appropriately to concerns. Ensuring adherence to quality expectations and standards is paramount.
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods or an entire work shift. You will need to reach overhead and below the knees, which involves bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. The role also involves moving, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance. Performing other reasonable job duties as requested by supervisors is also part of the role.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates should possess a high school diploma or *** equivalent. At least 1 year of related work experience is required. No supervisory experience is necessary for this role, and no specific licenses or certifications are required.
