About the Customs Clearance Manager Role

DHL is seeking a Customs Clearance Manager to oversee and optimize all customs clearance processes for shipments in Jeddah. This full-time position requires a proactive individual dedicated to ensuring operational efficiency and legal compliance within a dynamic logistics environment. The role involves managing a facility department and adhering to stringent quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

The Customs Clearance Manager will be responsible for the comprehensive management and development of customs clearance operations. This includes:

  • Managing, developing, and optimizing all processes related to customs clearance for shipments.
  • Ensuring adherence to all relevant quality standards and legal compliance with customs regulations.
  • Achieving business objectives for transit times, service levels, and cost targets within customs operations.
  • Reviewing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) on a weekly basis and initiating appropriate corrective actions.
  • Communicating strategic and essential information to all customs employees.
  • Adapting and developing business operations in response to changes in Saudi Customs and GCC rules and regulations.
  • Working closely with the senior management team to foster departmental and personal development.
  • Leading, motivating, and engaging the team to ensure execution in the best interests of DHL customers and operational departments.
  • Effectively managing third-party provider staff and ensuring their compliance as necessary.
  • Executing changes related to legal compliance and maintaining strong relationships with authorities.
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with customs authorities to improve clearance capabilities and efficiencies.

Performance Measures

Performance in this role will be measured against several key operational goals, including:

  • Clearance On Arrival (COA) rates.
  • Bond Outstanding (BOS) levels.
  • Customs Cost per Non-Document Shipment.
  • Non-Document Shipments Per Customs FTE (Per Day).
  • Unauthorized releases.
  • Customs Fines & Penalties.

This role is based in Jeddah and operates on a full-time basis.
