About the Laboratory Chemist Role

Veolia Water Technologies is seeking a Laboratory Chemist to join its team in Jeddah and Makkah, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position offers an opportunity to contribute to ecological transformation by providing complete water treatment solutions. Core Responsibilities

The Laboratory Chemist will perform essential laboratory activities to support the business. Key duties include:

  • Conducting laboratory experiments, including qualitative and quantitative analysis of chemical and biological parameters to assess product performance.
  • Performing water analysis according to standard procedures and reporting results accurately and within the required timeframe on E-lab.
  • Preparing chemical solutions, including calibration and standardization solutions, for laboratory and field use.
  • Calibrating laboratory and engineering instruments and maintaining associated calibration records.
  • Generating accurate and professional laboratory reports to meet the needs of the Service and Sales departments.
  • Managing laboratory inventory, including chemicals, reagents, and equipment, and monitoring expiry dates.
  • Supervising the disposal process for laboratory waste.
  • Fulfilling business demands by completing assigned tasks efficiently.

QHSE and Compliance

Adherence to Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) standards is paramount. The Laboratory Chemist is expected to:

  • Implement QHSE policies and ISO procedures.
  • Follow all safety rules and provide guidance to colleagues on safety practices.
  • Adhere to road traffic rules when commuting to and from work.
  • Uphold Veolia’s specific sustainable development commitments.
  • Read and understand safety information shared by the HSE Team.
  • Ensure proper site induction, LMRA, and PPE are in place before visiting any external site.
  • Maintain office safety and tidiness, reporting any hazards or issues.
  • Report any instances of stress, fatigue, harassment, or bullying to HR/HSE.
  • Comply with the Veolia Code of Conduct, including ethics and legislation related to anti-corruption.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Experience level: 0-1 year.
  • Educational background in Chemistry or a related scientific field.
  • Familiarity with laboratory procedures and analytical techniques.
  • Understanding of QHSE principles and practices.

This is a full-time position based in Jeddah and Makkah, Saudi Arabia.
