Job Description

About the Role

Mafaheem is seeking a Planning Engineer to join their team in Jeddah. This is a full-time position requiring 5-10 years of experience. The role involves comprehensive schedule management, from initial baseline preparation to ongoing updates and delay analysis, ensuring projects are meticulously planned and tracked.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare a complete Baseline Schedule from scratch, utilizing Bill of Quantities (BOQ), drawings, scope of work, and contract specifications.
  • Develop a professional Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and link BOQ items to schedule activities.
  • Determine activity durations based on quantities and productivity rates, rather than relying solely on estimates.
  • Establish correct Logic & Relationships (FS / SS / FF / Lag) and conduct thorough analysis of the Critical Path & Total Float.
  • Prepare Resource & Cost Loaded Schedules as required for project needs.
  • Generate Manpower & Equipment Histograms and S-Curves to visualize resource allocation and progress.
  • Update the project schedule weekly and monthly, accurately inputting Actual Start/Finish dates, Remaining Duration, and Percentage Complete.
  • Prepare 2/3/4 Weeks Lookahead schedules and compare Planned vs. Actual progress.
  • Analyze project delays, identify critical and delayed activities, and prepare Recovery / Catch-up Schedules.
  • Prepare management reports including SPI, Progress Variance, Critical Activities, Milestones, and Forecast Completion.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience as a Planning Engineer.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare comprehensive baseline schedules.
  • Proficiency in building WBS and linking BOQ items to schedule activities.
  • Strong analytical skills for determining durations, setting logic, and analyzing critical paths.
  • Experience with resource and cost loading schedules.
  • Ability to prepare Manpower & Equipment Histograms and S-Curves.
  • Experience in updating schedules, preparing lookahead plans, and performing delay analysis.
  • The ability to prepare Delay Analysis and EOT/Claims support is considered a strong advantage.

Work Environment and Compensation

This is a full-time position based in Jeddah. The salary range for this role is SAR 15,000 - SAR 18,750 per month.
