Role Overview and Context

Reporting to the IT Manager, the Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer serves as a key resource for day-to-day support and operational needs. This role acts as an escalation point for IT Support Technicians and remote teams on technical issues, requiring a strong technical foundation across networking, systems administration, and infrastructure management. The position contributes to operational excellence through hands-on troubleshooting, proactive maintenance, and comprehensive documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain IT infrastructure across both software and hardware environments.
• Ensure continuous availability of networking and computing systems during production hours.
• Maintain all IT equipment at optimum performance, meeting departmental KPIs and SLAs.
• Configure and troubleshoot networking fundamentals, including routers, switches, wireless APs, structured cabling, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and TCP/IP.
• Liaise with global Subject Matter Expert (SME) teams for the installation and maintenance of networking and server infrastructure, adhering to Amazon standards.
• Perform site audits to ensure adherence to Amazon IT and Health & Safety guidelines.
• Lead site-level projects in collaboration with business teams, fellow engineers, and remote support teams.
• Create, review, and execute change management requests and project plans, validating technical execution.
• Manage equipment availability through continuous improvement initiatives and cost reduction strategies.
• Identify root causes of operational issues and process inefficiencies, maintaining and creating relevant documentation.
• Provide technical direction and support to IT Support Technicians, mentoring and training them as needed.
• Represent IT in site meetings and act as an escalation point for business and support functions.
• Contribute to a paid on-call schedule for high-severity incidents and produce weekly performance reports.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for this role should possess 5 to 10 years of experience in IT infrastructure engineering or a closely related field. The position requires demonstrated technical depth across a range of IT domains, including:

• Proven experience in implementing and maintaining IT infrastructure, covering both software and hardware.
• Strong hands-on experience with networking fundamentals and systems administration.
• Demonstrated ability to execute projects, manage change, and perform technical troubleshooting.
• Experience in identifying root causes of operational issues and driving continuous improvement.
• Capability to mentor and provide technical guidance to IT support staff.

The OpsTechIT Team and Environment

This role is integral to the OpsTechIT team within Amazon's Operations – Fulfilment Center and Logistics division. The Operations teams are fundamental to the Amazon customer experience, managing a vast range of inventory from inbound to outbound to ensure timely delivery. The IT infrastructure supported by this role is critical to the business's ability to meet customer promises. The position is based in Jeddah or Makkah, Saudi Arabia, and involves supporting customers across multiple buildings and remote sites.
