Job Description

About Salla and the Role

Salla is building the digital infrastructure for commerce in the region, enabling merchants to establish, expand, and scale their businesses by simplifying complex processes. We are seeking a Senior Product Manager - Catalog to join our team in Jeddah, Makkah Province. This full-time role focuses on the foundational catalog layer that underpins all merchant operations, from storefronts to external selling channels.

The Catalog's Impact

The catalog serves as the core data source for all merchant-facing surfaces, including search, recommendations, and landing pages. Its quality directly influences the performance of these downstream systems. This role addresses the challenge of enabling merchants, or their third-party operators, to produce high-quality product data, and the need to support diverse product categories without custom development for each.

Key Impact Areas

  • Catalog Engine and Category Setup: Developing a single, configurable engine to support diverse category-specific product record requirements efficiently.
  • Product Data Input: Managing the creation, bulk import, and editing processes for product data.
  • Structure and Meaning: Overseeing taxonomy, attributes, variants, identifiers, normalization, and duplicate management.
  • AI Enrichment: Utilizing AI for extracting and generating product data, with defined policies for confidence, review, and correction.
  • Downstream Fitness: Ensuring product data performs effectively across consumption points such as search results, storefronts, recommendations, and external channel feeds.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end catalog strategy, including quarterly sequencing, internal defense, and accountability for performance metrics.
  • Manage the roadmap for product data creation and improvement, prioritizing based on downstream data performance.
  • Design user experiences that facilitate efficient data production, especially for non-store owners, making optimal paths the default.
  • Ensure new category support is a configuration change rather than an engineering project, demonstrating efficiency gains.
  • Implement AI for data enrichment, defining what is generated, suggested for approval, or left untouched, with clear confidence policies and learning loops.
  • Define and instrument catalog quality metrics, linking them to data consumption surfaces.
  • Oversee product data performance in external selling channels, addressing strict requirements and rejections.
  • Determine the balance between imposed data structure and merchant flexibility, defending these decisions.
  • Lead 2 to 3 product managers, providing ownership, coaching, and maintaining a high quality bar for team deliverables.
  • Collaborate with dependent teams, including search and discovery, storefronts, vendors, marketplace, and data.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Six or more years of experience in product management, including work on self-serve platforms where users created content or data, and accountability for the quality of user-generated output.
  • Demonstrated experience in improving a measurable aspect of data, such as completeness, accuracy, time to publish, tool adoption, or downstream performance.
  • Evidence of influencing user-produced data quality at the point of creation, rather than through post-production cleanup.
  • Platform judgment, including experience building configurable solutions for multiple use cases and understanding the trade-offs between shared and specific functionalities.
  • Practical experience with AI in production for structured data (extraction, classification, generation, or matching), including knowledge of confidence thresholds, error rates, and handling errors at scale.
  • Literacy in product data structures: taxonomies, attribute schemas, variants, identifiers, matching, deduplication, and external channel requirements.
  • Experience coaching product managers, formally or informally, and readiness to lead a small team while remaining hands-on.
  • Ability to own outcomes, navigate ambiguity, build clarity, maintain attention to detail, and collaborate across teams as data is shared downstream.
  • Willingness to relocate to Saudi Arabia and work on-site.
