Assistant Engineering Manager

About the Role

IHG Hotels & Resorts is seeking an Assistant Engineering Manager to support the Director of Engineering in Makkah. This full-time role focuses on overseeing the hotel's engineering operations, ensuring guest safety and comfort are prioritized. The Assistant Engineering Manager will help lead and coach the engineering team, ensuring all maintenance activities are completed efficiently, safely, and to high standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Engineering in managing daily engineering and maintenance operations.
• Supervise and coordinate the engineering team to ensure effective task assignment and timely completion.
• Ensure hotel facilities, equipment, and systems are maintained in safe and excellent working condition.
• Monitor preventive and corrective maintenance activities and follow up on outstanding requests.
• Support the team in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues across electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, and carpentry systems.
• Ensure compliance with hotel standards, health and safety requirements, and local regulations.
• Assist with planning and controlling engineering supplies, spare parts, tools, and equipment, while minimizing waste.
• Support energy-saving and environmental initiatives in line with the hotel’s sustainability goals.
• Respond flexibly to urgent and ad-hoc maintenance requirements to ensure smooth hotel operations.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with hotel departments, contractors, suppliers, guests, and regulatory authorities.
• Support the Director of Engineering with engineering projects, inspections, reports, and team performance.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma or degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related technical field; vocational training or equivalent experience may be considered.
• 5-10 years of previous experience in hotel engineering, facilities management, building maintenance, or a related field.
• Proven experience supervising or leading an engineering or maintenance team.

Required Skills

• Good technical knowledge of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, and carpentry systems.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance programs and hotel engineering operations.
• Ability to respond effectively to various situations.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Makkah, requiring a hands-on approach to managing engineering operations within a hotel setting. The role involves working closely with the Director of Engineering and leading a dedicated team to maintain high operational standards.
