The Opportunity

SGS is seeking a Sample Preparation Technician to join its team in Jiddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role is central to the laboratory operations, focusing on performing routine analytical techniques related to established sample preparation procedures. The Sample Preparation Technician will report directly to the Sample Preparation Shift Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine analytical techniques following established sample preparation procedures.
  • Ensure the quality and quantity of prepared samples, resulting in an assay paste representative of the original sample.
  • Conduct day shift maintenance for sample preparation equipment.
  • Deliver quality samples to all relevant sections of the laboratory.
  • Actively participate in all shift activities as required by supervisors to meet customer processing requirements.
  • Report necessary maintenance work to ensure normal operation of equipment.
  • Maintain a clean work area and assist in regular cleaning and maintenance tasks.
  • Keep management informed of laboratory problems and advise on low stock items.
  • Participate in required training and maintain good relations with client personnel, government authorities, and community assemblies.

Safety and Quality Standards

  • Adhere to all SGS Quality & Health, Safety, and Environment (Q&HSE) procedures.
  • Ensure Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is worn at all times and correct hygiene procedures are followed.
  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping and report all accidents and incidents to supervisors or management.
  • Contribute to maintaining accurate record-keeping and control systems for all documents.
  • Record, repair, or report all non-conformities as required.
  • Ensure all Quality Control (QC) samples are taken according to specifications.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess 0-1 years of experience in a relevant field. Key attributes include the ability to understand and diligently perform sample preparation procedures in a safe manner. A commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and operational efficiency is essential for this role.
