Job Description

About the Role

Acwa is seeking a Senior Contracts Manager to oversee contractual management for its portfolio of operational and under-construction power assets. This full-time position is based in Makkah, with responsibilities extending to Jeddah and Makkah. The role requires a minimum of 5-10 years of experience in managing complex contracts within the utilities, energy, or oil & gas sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage Project Agreements, including Power Purchase Agreements, EPC contracts, and O&M agreements, ensuring compliance and timely action alerts.
  • Provide expert opinion and leadership on all contractual aspects of assigned projects or portfolios, including risk assessment and dispute resolution.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of all project agreement provisions and effectively manage stakeholders throughout construction and operational phases.
  • Respond to counterparty correspondence to protect the company's interests.
  • Review, assess, and prepare contractual claims, including extensions of time and cost claims, ensuring alignment with contract provisions and supporting evidence.
  • Develop and maintain contract checklists, identifying, addressing, and reporting risks and issues, with appropriate escalation.
  • Interface with senior management, finance, and legal personnel to achieve objectives.
  • Establish procedures for the award and administration of project contracts.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all insurance-related matters.
  • Liaise with various asset team members and legal specialists to provide support on all contract matters.
  • Prepare monthly MIS reports for management review.
  • Ensure compliance with Acwa policies and guidelines, conducting audits where necessary and upholding the highest business ethics.
  • Undertake any other duties within the scope of the role as requested by management.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction, or Construction Law; a Master's degree is preferable.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience working with large, complex projects in the Utilities, Energy, or Oil & Gas industry.
  • Minimum of 5 years of demonstrable experience working with construction claims.
  • Proven experience in administering multiple contract agreements.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Good knowledge of financial, commercial, and contractual matters.
  • Proficiency in drafting and issuing contractual letters, notices, agreements, and amendments.
  • Solid understanding of contract law.
  • Familiarity with design, engineering, construction, commissioning, and operation and maintenance processes.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Work Location and Type

This is a full-time position located in Makkah, with responsibilities covering Jeddah and Makkah.
