Software Engineer

About the Role

International Water Distribution Co. (Tawzea) is seeking a Software Engineer to join their team in Jeddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves designing, developing, and overseeing high-quality software solutions to address complex business challenges. The Software Engineer will provide technical leadership and ensure adherence to engineering and database best practices.

Job Purpose

The primary purpose of this role is to design, develop, and oversee high-quality, lightweight software solutions that effectively solve complex business problems. The Software Engineer will provide technical leadership, enforce engineering and database best practices, and guide the team in delivering secure, zero-bloat, and highly performant custom systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect lean, performance-driven software structures for custom, in-house systems. Select and implement optimized design patterns and lightweight, purpose-built modular libraries.
• Translate business requirements into clear, technical blueprints.
• Design and enforce a secure, direct database-to-client pipeline, mandating that all database CRUD operations are handled exclusively through highly optimized Stored Procedures.
• Write highly optimized, clean, and secure native code. Lead strict code reviews and enforce technical quality, low-latency execution, and raw performance standards.
• Participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives. Break down complex features into manageable development tasks, estimate effort, and implement streamlined continuous integration and testing pipelines.
• Investigate and resolve complex architectural bugs, system latencies, and slow query execution plans. Perform root-cause analysis and implement long-term structural and database-level fixes.
• Collaborate with BPOs, QA, and other engineers. Provide technical mentorship to developers on optimized Stored Procedures, clean native coding practices, and efficient memory management.
• Implement secure coding standards, focusing on restricted database execution permissions, and ensure compliance with data protection laws and industry security standards.
• Maintain clear documentation of technical architecture, API interfaces, and database schemas. Host internal technical workshops on database performance tuning and direct-query optimization.

Qualifications and Experience

• 5-10 years of experience in software engineering.
• Demonstrated ability to design and develop high-quality, lightweight software solutions.
• Experience with enforcing engineering and database best practices.
• Proficiency in architecting performance-driven software structures and implementing optimized design patterns.
• Strong understanding of database CRUD operations and Stored Procedures.
• Experience with agile software delivery methodologies.
• Ability to perform complex problem-solving and debugging.
• Experience in technical mentorship and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Knowledge of secure coding standards and data protection compliance.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Jeddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia, within a team focused on delivering secure and high-performance custom systems for International Water Distribution Co. (Tawzea).
