About the Role
ASAS for Developing & Operating Industrial Cities is seeking a dedicated Safety Inspection and Compliance Evaluation Engineer to join our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves executing field inspections and evaluations for industrial facilities, focusing on safety and fire protection elements. The successful candidate will assess risks, ensure compliance with technical and regulatory requirements, and prepare comprehensive technical compliance reports detailing observations, non-conformities, recommendations, and necessary corrective actions.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct field visits to industrial facilities to perform technical inspections and evaluations.
- Evaluate compliance with occupational safety and health requirements, fire protection and prevention standards, and life safety regulations.
- Perform occupational and fire risk assessments, determining hazard levels and potential impacts.
- Inspect and evaluate Active Fire Protection Systems, including alarm and extinguishing systems, fire pumps, networks, and specialized extinguishing solutions.
- Inspect and evaluate Passive Fire Protection Systems, such as fire-resistant barriers, fire doors, opening seals, insulation, and structural fire protection.
- Verify compliance with emergency exit requirements, escape routes, evacuation systems, and overall life safety protocols.
- Review periodic testing and maintenance reports for all safety and fire protection systems.
- Review, audit, and approve safety, protection, and fire prevention plans, ensuring their adherence to approved technical requirements, codes, and standards.
- Conduct on-site verification of executed works against approved plans and compliance requirements, documenting and classifying non-conformities based on their severity.
- Prepare technical compliance reports and detailed risk assessment reports.
- Provide technical recommendations and outline necessary corrective actions to address identified issues and enhance compliance levels.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Safety Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or an equivalent field.
- Experience: A minimum of 10 years of practical experience in industrial safety or engineering consultations related to safety and fire protection.
- Languages: Proficiency in both Arabic and English.
- Certifications:
- NFPA Certified Fire Inspector (CFI)
- NFPA Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS)
- IOSH Managing Safely
- NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC)
- OSHA General Industry
- Any other specialized professional certifications in fire protection, risk assessment, or technical inspection.
Skills and Competencies
- Advanced knowledge of the Saudi Building Code (SBC).
- Good understanding of relevant international codes, including the International Building Code (IBC) and International Fire Code (IFC).
- Advanced knowledge of NFPA standards related to fire protection, life safety, and both active and passive fire protection systems.
- Proficiency in occupational safety and health requirements for industrial facilities, including risk assessment methodologies and report preparation.
- Strong ability to read, review, and analyze fire protection and prevention plans, providing precise technical observations.
- Capability to review plans for fire alarm systems, automatic sprinklers, extinguishing networks, fire pumps, water tanks, and specialized extinguishing systems.
- Ability to interpret passive fire protection plans and technical details concerning fire resistance, compartmentation, and fire-resistant barriers.
- Competence in reading architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical plans relevant to safety and fire protection.
- Aptitude for interpreting and applying codes and standards during inspection and evaluation processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and plan review software (*, AutoCAD, Elite, Revit).
- Advanced technical inspection and evaluation skills, with the ability to produce professional technical compliance reports.
- Strong risk assessment and analysis skills, including the ability to write technical reports in both Arabic and English.
- Excellent communication and technical presentation abilities.
- Capacity for field-based work and travel between various industrial sites.
- Demonstrated accuracy, objectivity, and the ability to make sound technical judgments based on approved codes and standards.
Key Performance Indicators
- Percentage of field inspection plan implementation.
- Accuracy and completeness of evaluation and inspection reports.
- Rate of verification for the closure of corrective actions.
Work Environment
This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, requiring regular field work and travel to various industrial sites.
