About the Baker Lead Role

Sheraton Hotels & Resorts is seeking a skilled Baker Lead for a full-time position in Riyadh. This role involves the preparation of a variety of baked goods, ensuring quality and adherence to standards within a dynamic kitchen environment. The ideal candidate will possess 2-5 years of relevant experience.

Core Responsibilities

The Baker Lead will be responsible for the end-to-end preparation of breads and pastries. This includes:

  • Reviewing daily production sheets to understand the variety and quantity of baked goods required.
  • Preparing and cooking food items in accordance with established recipes, quality, and presentation standards, as well as food preparation checklists.
  • Safely and appropriately utilizing baking tools, equipment, and appliances.
  • Monitoring the quality of prepared food and portion sizes throughout the shift.

Kitchen Operations and Compliance

Maintaining a high standard of kitchen operations and compliance is essential. Key duties include:

  • Maintaining kitchen logs to ensure compliance with food safety programs.
  • Communicating excess food items to the Chef for planning daily specials.
  • Adhering to and ensuring compliance with all food safety handling policies, procedures, and personal hygiene standards.
  • Checking and ensuring the correct temperatures of kitchen appliances and food, reporting any issues to management.
  • Complying with all company policies and procedures, including safety and security protocols.
  • Ensuring uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional.
  • Maintaining the confidentiality of proprietary information and protecting company assets.
  • Speaking with others using clear and professional language and answering telephones with appropriate etiquette.
  • Developing and maintaining positive working relationships with colleagues and supporting team efforts to achieve common goals.
  • Complying with quality expectations and standards.

Leadership and Team Support

This role involves contributing to team development and operational support:

  • Assisting management with employee hiring, training, scheduling, evaluation, counseling, discipline, motivation, and coaching.
  • Serving as a role model for employees and a mentor within the department.
  • Handling sensitive issues with tact, respect, and confidentiality.

Physical Requirements

The role requires the ability to perform physical tasks associated with a kitchen environment:

  • Moving, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and placing objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance.
  • Moving over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces.
  • Reaching overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
  • Standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods.
  • Performing other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for the Baker Lead position should meet the following criteria:

  • Education: A degree from a Technical, Trade, or Vocational School.
  • Related Work Experience: A minimum of 2 years of related work experience is required.
  • Supervisory Experience: No supervisory experience is required for this role.
  • License or Certification: None specified.
