About the Baker Lead Role
Sheraton Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Baker Lead for a full-time position in Riyadh. This role involves the preparation of a variety of baked goods, ensuring quality and adherence to standards.
Key Responsibilities
The Baker Lead will be responsible for preparing breads and pastries, which includes the creation of doughs and fillings, proofing, baking, and decorating. Daily tasks involve reviewing production sheets to understand the variety of baked goods required, preparing and cooking food according to established recipes, quality, and presentation standards, and utilizing baking and measuring tools and equipment safely and appropriately.
Operational Duties
Maintaining kitchen logs for food safety program compliance is a key duty. The Baker Lead will also keep the Chef informed of excess food items to aid in planning daily specials. Strict adherence to and enforcement of food safety handling policies and procedures, including personal hygiene, is required. This includes checking and ensuring correct temperatures of kitchen appliances and food, and reporting any issues to management. Monitoring the quality of food prepared and portions served throughout the shift is also essential.
Team Support and Compliance
Assisting management with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, motivating, and coaching employees, while serving as a role model, is part of the role. The Baker Lead must follow all company policies and procedures, including safety and security protocols, reporting accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions. This includes completing safety training and certifications. Maintaining a clean and professional appearance, ensuring confidentiality of proprietary information, and protecting company assets are also expected.
Physical Requirements and Professional Conduct
The role requires the ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance. Movement may occur over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces. Reaching overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping, is necessary. Standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods is also part of the job. The Baker Lead must speak with others using clear and professional language, answer telephones using appropriate etiquette, and develop and maintain positive working relationships, supporting team goals with tact and confidentiality. Complying with quality expectations and standards is mandatory. Other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors may be performed.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates should possess a degree from a Technical, Trade, or Vocational School. A minimum of 2 years of related work experience is required. No supervisory experience is necessary for this role.
