About the Role

Qiddiya Investment Company is developing a landmark destination for entertainment, culture, and hospitality in the Kingdom. The Hospitality Business Unit is seeking an experienced Director of Interior Design for its portfolio of hotel assets. This full-time role, based in Riyadh, requires a professional with over 10 years of experience to lead the interior design vision and execution for these hospitality projects.

Role Overview

In this position, you will be responsible for defining the creative interior design agenda for the hospitality portfolio. This includes establishing narratives, signature elements, and material strategies across all asset tiers to achieve distinctive, innovative, and commercially effective designs. Your oversight will span from initial concept development through mock-ups and design freeze, ensuring the integrity of the design vision is maintained.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the interior design definition of hotel concepts from brief to approved direction, ensuring alignment with Qiddiya, district, and Operator visions.
  • Articulate and position design proposals through compelling narratives and presentations to secure stakeholder alignment.
  • Define interior design principles, narratives, material strategies, and signature elements for each hotel tier.
  • Oversee consultant briefing, scope definition, and validation of interior design requirements.
  • Govern interior design and specialist consultants, managing their appointment, scope, and deliverables.
  • Provide functional governance to project design management teams, reviewing and endorsing deliverables.
  • Lead structured reviews of design submissions at key milestones.
  • Oversee FF&E strategies and specifications, ensuring commercial alignment and consistency with design intent.
  • Lead mock-up and design validation processes, guiding inspections and ensuring quality.
  • Provide creative and technical design oversight through design and construction phases.
  • Guide value engineering and design optimization efforts.
  • Champion innovation in guest experience, materials, and sensory design, embedding ESG and Vision 2030 priorities.
  • Mentor teams and drive continuous improvement of design processes and standards.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or a related discipline.
  • Over 10 years of experience in interior design, with a significant focus on hospitality projects.
  • Proven track record delivering hospitality assets, including luxury and ultra-luxury tiers.
  • Experience in a senior creative leadership role (*, Design Director, Studio Director).
  • Experience managing interior design consultants and FF&E strategies across multiple projects.
  • Experience working with international hotel Operators and brand standards.
  • Experience in KSA / GCC or similar large-scale development environments is preferred.
  • Professional membership or recognised certification (*, RIBA, NCIDQ, BIID) is preferred.

Skills and Attributes

  • Strong interior design literacy, creative judgment, and design review capability.
  • Deep understanding of creative and technical hospitality design, including guest experience, spatial planning, materials, lighting, and FF&E specification.
  • Exceptional storytelling and visual communication skills.
  • Ability to manage design consultants and influence creative outcomes.
  • Commercial awareness of cost, program impacts, FF&E budgets, and value engineering.
  • Strong stakeholder management and creative leadership abilities.
  • Proficiency in design and coordination tools (*, Adobe Creative Cloud, SketchUp, Revit, BIM, CDE platforms, Aconex, Autodesk Construction Cloud).
