Job Summary
The Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing routine analysis in one of the divisions of Clinical Laboratory and blood bank department under the supervision of the Senior Medical Technician staff. The technician may rotate through various laboratory sections to maintain familiarity with procedures needed for emergency cases during shifts.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure superior quality of medical treatment and compassion in every patient interaction at the Riyadh care Hospitals and Clinics.
  • Perform duties on-call, including weekdays, weekends, and public holidays as required.
  • Acquire specimens in aseptic conditions for testing.
  • Prepare specimens for testing and evaluate their integrity as per policies.
  • Create daily worksheets of activities following diagnostic applications.
  • Conduct routine and moderately complex testing according to SOPs and quality control assessments.
  • Prepare common use reagents and calibrate equipment for daily activities.
  • Assess equipment performance regularly and maintain relevant documentation.
  • Evaluate new methods under direct supervision.
  • Manage daily calibration and maintenance of equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory quality control standards.
  • Keep accurate records of quality control and patient results.
  • Report any deficiencies to Senior Technician or Chief Technician.
  • Engage in solutions for laboratory troubleshooting.
  • Maintain an appropriate inventory of common reagents and products.
  • Follow the quality system approach.
  • Validate and accept laboratory results under supervision.
  • Participate in training and orientation of new technicians.
  • Educate patients and families as per their needs regarding the education policies and procedures.
  • Protect patients' health information.

Reporting to
Senior Technician of the section and Chief Technician.

Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent from an approved medical technology school. Current registration as a Medical Technologist/Technician from the country of origin and a license from the Ministry of Health in Saudi Arabia.
Experience: Minimum of 1 year in a similar role.
Special Skills: Proficiency in English and interpersonal communication skills; computer literacy; knowledge of proficiency testing and quality control.
