About the Role

WSP in the Middle East is seeking a Principal Smart & Digital Consultant with expertise in Smart Buildings & Smart Cities to join its team in Riyadh. This full-time position requires a minimum of 10 years of experience. The role focuses on business development and the delivery of digital projects within the built environment.

Role Context and Business Development

This position is instrumental in developing and executing the business development strategy for Smart & Digital initiatives in Saudi Arabia. The role involves building a project and client portfolio, engaging in business development activities such as outreach and discovery meetings, and acting as a subject matter expert to assist potential clients in defining new projects. Collaboration with sales leads is essential for aligning business development efforts.

Project Delivery and Technical Expertise

The Principal Smart & Digital Consultant will lead the end-to-end management of digital projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. Responsibilities include defining project scopes, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with clients and internal teams. The role requires providing expert guidance on the selection and implementation of smart cities and buildings technologies, managing the design and integration of these solutions, and developing high-level data strategy, management, and governance frameworks for complex digital solutions. Continuous innovation in design, driven by emerging technologies and best practices, is a key aspect of this role.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the development of a business development strategy for KSA.
• Build and manage project and client portfolios in KSA.
• Engage in business development activities and act as a Smart & Digital expert for potential clients.
• Define project scopes, objectives, and deliverables.
• Lead end-to-end project management for digital projects.
• Advise clients on smart cities & buildings technologies.
• Manage the design and implementation of smart cities & building solutions.
• Develop high-level data strategy, management, and governance frameworks.
• Ensure seamless integration of smart technologies with existing systems.
• Drive innovation in smart cities & buildings design.
• Collaborate with internal and external teams for project execution.
• Manage and coach team members on business development and project delivery.

Qualifications and Experience

• Master’s degree in architectural engineering, engineering, computer science, data science, business administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in Smart Buildings and/or Smart Cities, digital solutions design, and IoT systems.
• At least 3 years of specialized experience in emerging technologies such as Digital Twins and/or AI.
• Experience in business development within the Middle East region with a proven track record in account management.
• Experience with data integration for complex digital projects.
• Familiarity with data strategy, management, governance, and analysis methods.
• Proficiency in PowerPoint with attention to design.
• Excellent project management and technical delivery skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across geographies and cultures.
• Innovative and forward-thinking mindset.
• Proven track record of managing complex projects at scale.
• Ability to work with agility and adapt to changing client needs.
• Demonstrated leadership experience.
