About the Role
Bechtel Corporation is seeking a Quality Specialist to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time, office/project-based role supports the development of the state-of-the-art King Salman International Airport. With a history of involvement in major airport projects across the GCC, Bechtel is providing project management consultancy services for this significant expansion, which aims to accommodate up to 120 million travelers by 2030 and 185 million by 2050, along with substantial cargo capacity.
Role Overview
In this position, you will be instrumental in ensuring the quality of project deliverables by reviewing contractors' Quality Management System (QMS) related plans, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), Quality Procedures, and templates. You will assess applicable quality requirements, identify and report new or revised regulatory requirements, monitor non-conforming conditions, and evaluate the effectiveness of corrective actions. Your insights will contribute to resolving complex issues and mitigating performance risks. You will also participate in quality audits and surveillances, providing necessary support.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and complete quality audit checklists, participating in internal and external audits for contractors, suppliers, and project quality programs.
- Review and monitor nonconformities, ensuring timely and effective corrective actions and closure of audit findings.
- Evaluate quality procedures and manuals for compliance with project quality plans and draft new procedures as required.
- Support root cause analyses and develop corrective action plans to address complex quality issues.
- Provide daily support and guidance to project teams in implementing QMS requirements and maintaining compliance.
- Review and assess contractors' quality submittals, including manuals, procedures, Quality Plans, ITPs, audit schedules, and vendor prequalification.
- Maintain communication with client quality representatives, manage relationships, and ensure consistent reporting.
- Provide input to Project agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) on a monthly basis.
- Develop standardized quality metrics to support performance monitoring and continual improvement.
- Conduct on-site quality surveillances and quality walkdowns, documenting observations or non-conformances, and ensuring timely resolution and follow-up.
- Report to the Sr. Quality Specialist.
Education and Experience
This role requires a bachelor's degree in engineering (or an international equivalent) and 2-5 years of experience as a Quality Specialist/Engineer. Alternatively, 6-9 years of relevant quality work experience will be considered.
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Technical knowledge in the application of engineering, environmental, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning practices sufficient to understand relevant project and regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge of quality principles and their application across engineering, environmental, procurement, construction, testing, operations, and commissioning.
- Understanding of corrective action system application for eliminating nonconforming conditions.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and their impact on the quality program.
- Proficiency in oral and written communication in English.
- Proficiency in relevant computer and reporting applications, including but not limited to BIM 360, Power BI, Microsoft Office programs, and other related tools.
- Ability to perform assessments of suppliers' and contractors' processes, systems, and practices.
- Prompt identification and reporting of quality-related challenges to mitigate project timeline impacts.
- A recognized degree and/or specialized courses in engineering, quality, or a specialized discipline.
- ISO 9001 Certified for QMS Requirements / Awareness (Preferred).
- ISO 9001:2015 Certified Auditor / Lead Auditor (IRCA approved) (Required).
- Knowledge of Bechtel's administrative practices (Preferred).
