About the Role

National Medical Care is seeking a Registrar Anesthesia for a full-time position in Riyadh. This role involves providing comprehensive anesthetic services to patients while maintaining a high standard of professional performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure superior quality of medical treatment, compassion, and understanding for every patient.
  • Perform pre-operative assessments, including history taking, physical examinations, and diagnostic test interpretation.
  • Document patient condition on admission according to JCIA standards.
  • Conduct daily pre-anesthesia ward rounds for all inpatients.
  • Liaise with the Consultant regarding inpatient care.
  • Document patient management plans and maintain accurate, timely, and legible medical records.
  • Maintain updated follow-up notes in patient progress records.
  • Seek advice from the Consultant when a patient's condition requires further expertise.
  • Work under the supervision and instructions of the assigned Consultant.
  • Participate as a member of the 'Code Blue' team as directed.
  • Actively participate in the department's on-call rota for patient care and admissions.
  • Respond to emergencies to provide medical care and advice related to the specialty.
  • Assist Senior staff (Consultant) in performing diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
  • Supervise Junior Staff in their duties and responsibilities.
  • Actively participate in the department's educational and training activities.
  • Abide by department policies and procedures, as well as hospital by-laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Perform other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the employee's knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Educate patients and families as per their needs, implementing the patient/family education process and documentation.
  • Be knowledgeable about the essential role in patient and family education.
  • Involve patients and families in the plan of care, respecting their goals and choices.
  • Provide health promotion and health teaching using methods appropriate to the patient's developmental level, learning needs, readiness, ability to learn, language preference, culture, and situation.
  • Allocate necessary time to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient education provided to patients/families with appropriate documentation.

Reporting and Collaboration

This role reports to the Head of the Department of Anesthesiology. The Registrar Anesthesia will liaise with Consultants of the same and other specialties, nursing staff, other healthcare professionals, patients, and their families. The role also involves supervising Residents in the Department of Anesthesia.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: University Medical Degree (*, * or recognized equivalent).
  • Professional Recognition: Recognized as a Resident by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.
  • Licensure: Registration with the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties and/or a current license to practice medicine in Saudi Arabia.
  • Experience: A minimum of two years of experience after obtaining the degree.
  • Current License: A current, valid license to practice medicine in the area of specialty.
  • Desirable Qualifications: Additional qualifications in the specialty and additional experience in the specialty are preferred. Academic affiliation is also desirable.

  • Exhibits professionalism and excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Knowledgeable of Medical by-laws.
  • Proficient in computer applications.
