About the Role: Senior Civil Engineer

IDOM Consulting, Engineering, Architecture is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer for a full-time position within its Project and Construction Management team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This role is integral to the Infrastructure Division, focusing on mega civil projects, particularly those involving roads, highways, bridges, and tunnels in urban environments.

Role Overview and Context

The Senior Civil Engineer will be responsible for coordinating all technical aspects related to civil works, including excavation, trenching, earthworks, and paving. This position requires a strong focus on quality control, drawing revision, value engineering, and the technical review and follow-up of construction methods. The role also involves close coordination with other senior specialists, such as those in roads structures, drainage, and materials.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical control for all civil works and coordinate with discipline specialists and quality control personnel.
• Resolve design issues or coordinate their resolution with home office support.
• Offer technical advice on proposed design changes.
• Oversee the Contractor’s technical submissions, including shop drawings, materials, and design documents.
• Conduct final reviews of all Contractor’s relevant drawings, schedules, and material submittals to ensure compliance with project design objectives.
• Assess and provide technical reports on any Value Engineering proposals.
• Serve as the primary point of contact between the Road Engineering department and the Technical Manager.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, with a specialization or major in Construction Management or Road Design, or equivalent work experience.
• Formal qualifications or affiliations with recognized bodies such as RICS, IQS, ICES, or CIOB.
• Over 15 years of applicable experience in project management, specifically on mega construction projects, primarily in a Consultant capacity. Candidates with exclusive contractor experience will not be considered.
• Demonstrated experience in one or more ROADS projects is mandatory for consideration.

Essential Skills and Knowledge

• Strong understanding of construction, design, and engineering principles.
• Knowledge of local regulations and safety standards.
• Proficiency in the English language is required; Arabic language skills are considered a plus.
• Excellent communication, report writing, and social skills.
• Proven abilities in teamwork, problem-solving, autonomy, flexibility, and technical rigor.
• Willingness to work effectively within a multinational firm environment.

Additional Candidate Requirements

• Candidates must be based in Riyadh.
• A valid Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) membership is required.
• For non-Saudi candidates, a transferable Iqama is mandatory.
