About the Role

Deloitte is seeking a Senior Manager Legal Counsel to manage contentious matters within the Quality, Risk, and Security (QRS) Department. This full-time position is based in Riyadh and offers a significant opportunity to engage with a broad network of professionals across the Deloitte Middle East & Cyprus region.

Role Context and Department Overview

The Quality, Risk, Security (QRS) Department is responsible for compliance, regulatory affairs, anti-money laundering (AML), ethics, anti-corruption, independence, and risk management for the entire Deloitte Middle East & Cyprus region. This role is integral to supporting the General Counsel in overseeing the contentious matters portfolio, providing cross-border collaboration and skill development opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the General Counsel, as the Contentious Matters Leader, in managing the contentious matters portfolio.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for inquiries and escalations from Contentious Matters team members.
  • Oversee the entire Deloitte Middle East Contentious Matters portfolio, spanning 16 countries and approximately 20 jurisdictions.
  • Issue clear and detailed instructions to external counsel.
  • Formulate case strategies, encompassing both procedural and substantive aspects.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and updates for the General Counsel.

Qualifications and Experience

  • An undergraduate degree in Law or a related field from a reputable university.
  • Qualified common law practitioner with a minimum of 12 years of post-admission/qualification experience.
  • Experience should include dispute resolution, litigation, arbitration, and other Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) methods.
  • Experience in civil law is considered an advantage.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in demanding situations.
  • Strong communication abilities, particularly in written English, complemented by robust verbal skills.
  • Proficiency in using digital tools and software.
  • Knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated commitment to personal learning and development.
  • Ability to understand team and business priorities and contribute effectively.
