About the Role

Cundall is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Sustainability Engineer to join its MENA Sustainability team in Riyadh. This is a full-time, site-based position focused on delivering sustainability initiatives for ambitious projects in the region. The role requires a professional with 5-10 years of experience, capable of leading sustainability efforts during construction and supporting broader design and corporate initiatives.

Role Context and Responsibilities

This project-specific role involves significant on-site presence, potentially up to six days a week during the construction phase. The engineer will serve as the primary on-site sustainability authority, acting as the direct link to clients and driving the implementation of sustainability commitments. Key responsibilities include managing client expectations, reporting progress, and resolving challenges in real-time. The role also entails representing Cundall in project meetings and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and sustainability standards.

Construction Sustainability Leadership

During the construction phase, the Senior Sustainability Engineer will:

• Act as the primary client interface for all sustainability matters.
• Represent Cundall in meetings with clients, consultants, and contractors.
• Ensure compliance with relevant environmental regulations and sustainability standards.
• Promote a culture of sustainability throughout the project.
• Lead construction sustainability workshops with contractors.
• Liaise with Commissioning Authorities (CxA) to ensure systems meet design intent and certification criteria (LEED & Mostadam).
• Lead the handover process and final certification submission for LEED and Mostadam.

Design and Corporate Sustainability Support

When not on site, the engineer will integrate with the MENA Sustainability team to contribute to earlier project stages and strategic goals. This includes:

• Collaborating with sustainability consultants, building physics engineers, and design teams to embed sustainable strategies into multidisciplinary projects.
• Working with stakeholders such as architects, engineers, and urban planners.
• Developing and implementing sustainability policies and guidelines.
• Supporting corporate sustainability initiatives, including ESG reporting, internal research, and green building certification strategy.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess:

• A Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Environmental, or Electrical preferred) or Architecture.
• Mostadam AP and LEED AP BD+C credentials.
• At least 7 years of hands-on experience managing LEED & Mostadam certification for two or more Gold-rated (or higher) projects of similar scale.
• A total of 10-15 years of relevant experience.
• Proven experience managing sustainability on large-scale projects with a strong understanding of LEED and Mostadam processes.
• Strong technical knowledge in construction environmental management (IAQ, waste, materials).
• Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; Arabic is an advantage.
