About the Role

Amazon is seeking a Workplace Health and Safety Officer to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves partnering with a site operations team in a delivery station to implement company safety policies and ensure compliance with all applicable local and regional regulations. The successful candidate will leverage lean principles and Kaizen methodologies to drive continuous improvement initiatives, aiming to reduce conditional and ergonomic risks within processes and foster a safe and healthy working environment for Associates. This position requires 2-5 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide guidance and oversight to ensure compliance with all applicable Amazon WHS standards and policies.
• Measure site performance against published safety policy requirements and develop implementation plans to address identified deficiencies.
• Deliver projects to Operations on time and with high quality.
• Analyze safety metrics and review weekly and monthly incident trends to identify areas of high safety risk and rationalize resource allocation.
• Ensure proper incident investigation and the closure of corrective and preventive actions.
• Perform frequent site safety audits to identify non-compliant equipment and processes, implementing solutions to eliminate exposure to risks and prevent injury.
• Audit record-keeping practices to ensure alignment with global WHS standards and local regulations.
• Audit workplace organization and Associate behaviors to ensure accuracy and consistency in training, auditing, and scoring methods.
• Lead and mentor Safety Associates in the assigned facility during peak periods.
• Engage with Safety teams, Associates, and leaders at the delivery station to identify safety program improvement opportunities and ensure open communication on progress.
• Ensure site leadership and Associates are trained and knowledgeable of their responsibilities under each policy, auditing the quality, delivery, and effectiveness of all required safety training.
• Manage PPE inventory at the site and coordinate procurement as needed, ensuring site PPE compliance.
• Implement best practices at the site, including Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) safety and yard safety systems.
• Ensure the standard Work Permit System is utilized at the site and implement safe contractor management.
• Ensure a basic safety training calendar for Associates and facilitate trainings accordingly.
• Collaborate with the facility team to ensure preventive maintenance of all fire protection and emergency equipment.
• Ensure basic fire fighting and first aid training requirements are met.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Demonstrated ability to build trust and confidence with Operations Teams and inspire change through comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey clear, concise, and consistent messages.
• Proficiency in instructing and training Operations Leaders in Amazon WHS policies and assisting site teams in incorporating safety standards.
• Excellent knowledge of safety programs, environmental regulations, and ergonomic principles, with the ability to demonstrate this expertise when working with Operations.
• Thorough understanding of local and regional regulations and company policies.

Work Environment

The Site WHS Officer will be an integral part of the site WHS team, reporting to the Site WHS Manager. The role is full-time and requires flexibility to work in shifts within a delivery station environment in Riyadh, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
