The DC/AC UPS Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems and associated electrical equipment. This includes both AC and DC systems used in industrial, commercial, and critical infrastructure environments (*, data centers, telecom, hospitals).
Key Responsibilities:
Installation & Commissioning
- Install, test, and commission DC and AC UPS systems according to manufacturer specs and client requirements.
- Ensure proper electrical connections, grounding, and battery bank configurations.
Preventive Maintenance
- Perform scheduled inspections and preventive maintenance on UPS systems, batteries, rectifiers, and inverters.
- Monitor battery health (voltage, capacity, impedance) and replace as needed.
- Maintain maintenance logs and checklists.
Troubleshooting & Repairs
- Diagnose faults in UPS units, bypass switches, chargers, and battery strings.
- Repair or replace failed components like IGBT modules, control boards, or fans.
- Use diagnostic tools like multimeters, clamp meters, and oscilloscopes.
Technical Support & Documentation
- Provide support during electrical outages and ensure uptime of critical systems.
- Generate service reports and maintain documentation for all site visits and repairs.
- Follow up with vendors or manufacturers for parts and warranty claims.
Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) and PPE use.
- Ensure compliance with national electrical codes and company standards.
- Participate in toolbox talks and safety drills.
🧠 Required Skills and Knowledge:
- Solid understanding of DC/AC power systems, battery banks, inverters, and rectifiers.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Proficient with tools like multimeters, insulation testers, and battery monitoring systems.
- Knowledge of electrical safety codes and emergency backup power systems.
Requirements

- GOSI Registration Required
- Requires 2-5 Years experience
